Wow! Another great day in Bali. We started our morning early with breakfast in our Villa at 6:45 am. We had to leave our resort at 7:30 am in order to meet our fishing guides by 8. Thats right, fishing. Deep sea fishing was on the agenda today, Trolling fishing to be exact. We arrived both excited and anxious to get out on the water. We took a short car ride to the bay where the boats were tied up and left on the boat from there. There were 3 men on the boat with us who all spoke very little english. After a couple hours out on the ocean, we each caught one mackerel, and then came in. It was beautiful out on the water!
We both began to get hungry so we asked our driver to take us to one of his favorite scenic restaurants. He took us to a place about 45 minutes from where we went fishing called Rapuan Cili in a town named Mas. Our driver, Dewa, did not let us down. The restaurant was so nice. It was this HUGE hut overlooking a beautiful pool and rice fields filled with such green grass and
palm trees. There was a relaxing breeze upstairs in the hut and as we ate the staff had some soft easy jazz playing in the background. It was AWESOME! Definately an "is this real" kind of moment, which so far, has been a reoccurring feeling.
The town of Mas and surrounding areas are famous for wood carvings so after lunch, we asked Dewa to take us to a place where we could see them in action. He took us to a place called Ida B. Marka where wood carvings were made and sold by the locals. The Balinese people have a true affinity for carving. The gentleman helping us said, in a whispering voice, he would give us 50% off everything if we give him a small tip. It was cute.
We headed back to the hotel after that because we had a very important appointment to get to - at the spa 😊 It was very nice and relaxing and after our treatment we had dinner in our villa and called it a night.
