AOA and Hello everyone
WOW! We had a full day today! We woke up right before sunrise and got a nice start to our day by taking a short swim in our pool. We had a lovely breakfast and then got ready to meet our driver, Dewa.
Our first stop was the Tanah Lot temple, such a beautiful place with so many different things to see. Walked through a local market on the way back to the car. Had lunch at an amazing restaurant overlooking a breathtaking view of rice paddies in the middle of nowhere - it was so nice! For awhile we were the only ones there and we had the whole place to ourselves. It was an incredible feeling sitting there and just letting it sink it that we are in BALI!!!
After that we went to a famous place called Jati Luweh with even more scenic views. We saw some funny things on the way too, like a man on a motorcycle carrying an upside-down chicken! After Jati Luweh we went to a very famous temple where they are getting ready for a ceremony that they have once every 25 years! The actual ceremony
is not until September but they are already preparing for it b/c it is such a major event.
Then after the temple we went to a village famous for their silver jewelry shops and a traditional dance called Kecak (the c's are pronounced "ch'). We were able to do both, we browsed at a silver shop and were amazed at all the beautiful items they had, not only jewelry but paintings and even sculptures and small replicas made entirely of silver. It was very cool to see those and they are all made by hand so that makes them even more special. The Kecak dance started at 6:30 and we got there a little early so we could get a good seat. It was very interesting to watch and experience, we took video of it but the battery died on the camcorder but we have lots of pictures.
We got back to the hotel around 8:30, showered and got ready for dinner. We went to a beautiful place on the beach called PJ's. it was so romantic and the service was amazing. We just got back to the hotel and are excited to go deep sea fishing tomorrow.
Hope you enjoy all the pics. there are a lot more but we have to get up in 6 hours and Alan is already sleeping so I will upload them soon.
Love,
Tayyaba and Alan
