So i booked a ticket to Lovina, a northern beach area. I have to be there in order to get over to Java (i will get some coffee there dont worry ali). I did not know you had to go back through Ubud to get there...so i kept my ticket as a transfer and got off in Ubud to chill out here one last time....maybe for the weekend. Left my home in Calgary Alberta Canada to backpack south east asia for 3 months. I am starting in Bali, then working my way up to singapore, malaysia, then i will meet my friend Crystal in phuket, thailand. We are going to travel thailand for a month, when i meet up with my girlfriend Maria and her friend Patty in bangkok. village of the heron birds

ok here is a cool story. in 1965, all of a sudden 15,000 heron birds came from nowhere (nobody really knows where) and decided to settle here.

These birds are very interesting in the fact that they pick a mate until death, there are also 3 different kinds of heron bird. Small medium and large. The 3 types never interbreed, and live in the trees -- small on the bottom, medium in the middle and large in the top.

every morning they leave and all fly across the island and return around 4pm.

but perhaps the most facinating thing about them, is that they have a king and queen. They only show up for about an hour a month, to which all the birds give them their own tree to hang out in. Heres the thing, the king and queen are Black! the only black heron birds, and there have been new kings and queens over the years.
