Last day in Sanur so decided to wake up early 5.20am for sunrise. Arrived at the beach at 5.50 and could see the golden light just starting to break through. We both managed to get some nice photos as the sun rose above clouds on the horizon. Went back to the hotel for a leisurely breakfast before going back to our room to pack for our move to Ubud. Daisy managed to fit in one last swim in the pool, while I went through the morning's sunrise photos and planned our next week in Ubud. 12.30 we decided to walk down the south side of the main Sanur street which is much quieter. Had lunch at an Italian restaurant called Riviera Restaurant and Bar which was quite good. They actually make their own pasta. It was then time to go and check out at 2pm. We were lucky as they allowed us a late checkout. Ordered a Grab car for $13.30. Reached Tanah Gajah resort at 3.40pm and taken on a tour in a golf cart. Receptionist told us the pool will be closed for a wedding on 30th June . We said, oh yeah we're going to that wedding and
we all laughed. I paid less than $AUD100 per night from Air BnB. I chose it because it looked like it was closest to the resort where my cousin Justin is marrying Lynn, and it turns our villa is actually part of the resort. We feel very lucky to have scored this place. It's a huge self-contained, 2 bedroom villa with 2 bathrooms. A real bargain, because the other villas are much dearer. The only reason I think could bve that this villa looks a lot older than the ones I can see on the official web site. After our tour of the grounds we went straight back to reception and ordered another Grab car to try and make the famous sunset over Tanah Lot Temple. The car came about 4.05 and the driver was very good taking some local roads to avoid main road traffic. As we got closer, I was thinking of offering he driver, Firdau, $20 to wait for us and drive us back and then he suggested the same thing and he was OK with the $20 offer. We arrived at 5.40pm, just in time to walk down to the temple and we went to the
left of the temple and got some nice photos of the temple silhouetted with sun going down on the right. We didn't actually enter the temple as high tide was coming in and we didn't feel like wading across. I had read that the temple itself is nothing special inside, it's all about its position on the waterside. We found our way back to car and Firdau wasn't at the car but I found him at a small restaurant nearby. On the way Daisy asked him if he could stop at a mini mart and we bought corn flakes, long life milk, eggs and noodles as we have full kitchen facilities and Daisy is worried we're eating too much, LOL.
