On train from Singapore to Tampin Bali Overview
Bizare questions and comments are often put to the couple holding hands as we walk down the street. Usually starting with "are you on your honeymoon?" or "honeymoon couple?" To which the reply is obviously "no!" The questioning then takes a bizzare turn as the couple (still holding hands), get asked "are you brother and sister?!"
The bizzare tactics of the street sellers doesn't end there, as Fay's favourite usually asks or proposes "some sandals to make your boyfriend stay with you!?" But when the funny exchanges die down and the ever persistant sellers realise that you mean it when you say "no thank you" the exchange can become quite rude and slightly disappointing.
The joking, candor and banter with the more friendly vendors like those in Kenya, Sri Lanka and Jamaica are not present here. Instead they are replaced with frowning sellers, who look at you with a disappointed glare at best, at worst they blatently curse you with their friends!
Whilst we don't wish to sound like we haven't enjoyed our time in Bali. We are still having a great time. It's just our experience of Bali hasn't quite lived up
to it's Paradise Island pasona!
We spend the last few days seeking shade and respite from the blazing sun! Firstly visiting the Water park which, themed like a rainforest, provides ample shelter! Miss Winning has such a good time that she repeatedly asks to go back, the next day, then the next day, then the next day......
We lounge around for a couple more days and Chris, not the type for sitting down to long, braves the slightly rough seas for some more bodyboarding!!
But when the time comes we are more than ready to move on from here!!
However, Bali has a couple more Hurdles to throw at us! On the night before our *9.30am* flight to Singapore we suffer a restless night sleep, thanks for the most part to our pet lizard and his 3 friends running and squieling around behing our bed!!!
This promts the two of us to give up on sleep. At around 2.30am we turn on our TV to look for info on our flight, which to our suprise now reads **7am**!!!
We attept to leave for the airport, Fay negotiates a Taxi, a clapped up old vehicle which would
have been exchanged in the srappage scheme at home!
Coupled with that, it is quite clear to us that our driver probably hasn't driven before! We head out towards the airport and with the control tower in sight the car splutters, backfires and grinds to a holt! Driver says: "no fuel"! We get out and walk the final mile to the international terminal.... 😞
Bring on Singapore!!!
***This Blog is written in Tribute and Gratitude to our pet Lizard for helping us make our flight! We will miss you!!***
