view from hotel rooftop
clock tower and distant palace 27th October 07
We arrived off the sleeper train at 6 in the the morning, it was pitch black at the station. As soon as we had stepped on the platform a rickshaw driver was there to pounce on us as usual - they never stop!
Embarassingly i thought the driver was trying to pull a scam on us and started to have a go at him , he had actually pulled up outside the hotel and i was still not having it ! Gill had a look of 'what are you doing' on her face, i then noticed the hotel owner stood there and then the sign, arse !
We arrived at the hotel and went up to the rooftop restaurant just as the sun was rising, good timing ! There was a great view of the fort one way and the clock tower / palace the other. We had some food and watched the sun rise and then went to explore.
The fort is impressive with quality views over the city. One way especially shows the old city which has the majority of its houses painted blue ( Initially for the Brahmin who were the
top cast Hindu's, now anyone does it as it repels insects and looks good ! )
Next day we woke early for a nightmare bus ride to Udaipur
