Day 3: I had a good breakfast at Novotel Hotel and I set off for Summer Palace using the subway line to station Xiyuan, I walked 10 minutes north wards to reach the west gate of Summer Palace. The Area surrounding the Summer Palace is very vast, scenic as it was Imperial family's summer retreat, I walked around the ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges, with set of corridors, gazebos set on the lake, all incredibly beautiful. There is a little Island in the lake after you cross the bridge with 17 arches, though there were no boats in November, I prefered the Summer Palace to Forbidden City.
Then I took the subway

Beigongmen from the north gate of Summer palace to Beijing Zoo.
I headed for Beijing Zoo and straight to the Panda section near the front entrance. One big Panda was hungry and was eating bamboo leaves outside in the open. He would take all the leaves out, pile them in line and chew them. This was so sweet, I spent long time watching him eat and it was so enjoyable. One small panda was out playing, he was
so very adorable and looked like a stuffed toy!! The rest of the Pandas were all sleeping, the mornings are best time to see Pandas, as it is their feeding time but I was such a lucky girl to see them in the afternoon..
Then I went to shopping mall opposite the zoo, which I had seen when I arrived on subway. I bought 4 coats (one heavy woollen and 3 light coats) 2 jackets, 3 leggings and some artificial jewellery for my daughter. I made friends with a Korean girl who was the same size as my daughter so she helped me with jacket size, I helped her to find the right suit for her interview.
The lady who was selling coats was also the same size as my daughter so she helped out trying them on, she did not speak any English, but we communicated in charades. I bought all 4 coats from her and I had two big black bags of shopping.
I walked towards the subway but saw Bus 103 at the Bus stop so I ran to catch the bus which quite full but I managed to get a seat. This was a good bus ride,
passing Jingshan Park and took me right opposite my hotel, the bus commentary was only in Chinese and after a little while I got good place near the window to see the Beijing at night.
When I reached Novotel with two big black bags. My tour friends were sitting in the lobby and wanted to see my purchases, they really liked all the things I bought. I gave them the directions and a few guidelines as they had two free days in Beijing and shopping is expensive in Sweden. They invited me to have a bite to eat with them and then I headed straight to my room for a hot bath to nurse my sore feet.
