The good thing about Beijing, as all big cities, is that you can pretty much choose what lifestyle you want. Of course there is the limiation of budget, but that can sort of also be fixed partially at least. Near my house is the luxurious Shin King Place that I wrote about. If you can't affort Gucci, Fendi and Hugo Boss, there's silk market where you can bargain away and still look nice. In short, living this life means that you are superskinny (I mean asians ARE skinny already, so if they want to be skinny, we're talking superskinny), have high heels on and pretty much look more western: not so much cute clothes, dyed and curled hair and pale skin. One very beautiful woman works at our school administration. She's a "pretty girl", but still have the mumbling and not so nice Beijing-accent.

Then there's the cheap way to live. Eat at the family restaurant or jian bing from the street. (Since the above don't seem to eat that much, I don't really know about their eating habits...) You can get drunk cheap, buy cheap dvd's, buy cute t-shirts with for example a bear on it and so on. As long as you stick with chinese or fake products and food, you're pretty much living a cheap life. Subway is 2 kuai (2 SEK) per fare and if you bother to eat home, food is really good and cheap.

I guess i live both life (except for the eating, I do eat, a lot). I drink expensive western coffe, go to spa, and eat jian bing like every other day.

I add a lot of photos this time, since I've been lazy and didn't buy the upload-thingy from the camer to computer. Gotta say that I bought it only speaking mandarin, which is incredible, since it's pretty hard to explain even in swedish sometimes.
