Hi Followers,
This morning was amazing waking up in an A/C room in a big comfortable bed at long last!!!!
Vick was still feeling awful with serious stomach cramps and other unmentionable things.... So we decided to have a nice relaxed day!! We had breakfast in the Epics art cafe, which is a place run by the mentally and physically handicapped. The food was amazing and service was good, lucky I didn't order soup as they all limped a lot!! I found a common chat with a few disabled people, typical men...football!!! It had a nice atmosphere and was so busy, our highlight was the lime and mint ice shakes...amazing!!!
We went for a walk around the local area and found a few markets. (All selling crap really but still nice to walk around) Kampot is a small place but we didn't get very far and didn't want to walk too far from the hostel (Vicks belly). We headed back to the hostel to chill out and cool down!!! On the way there, we saw a massive group of people and after talking to a few the people realised there was a
tuk tuk race but with pedal bike tuk tuks, everyone was having a beer and laughing so looked like we missed out 😞
We had lunch late as we had a kip and read till Vick felt better so ended up having noodle soup at our hostel around 1530, it was cheap and tasty so made us very happy!!!
There was a tour for $15.5 dollars taking us around Kampot and Kep so as Vick was feeling better we booked it up for the 30th. After spending the afternoon chilling again, we headed out for some dinner as Vick needed some stoge in her belly.
We found this amazing homemade noodle and dumpling place, i was so excited to eat there but Vick wanted something more western so we agreed to head to this Rusty Keyhole restaurant get her western food and the to head back to the noodle place for me. Vick was in heaven she got mash, beans and bacon plus a cup of PJ tips for dinner, I had a nice pint of cold beer aahh!!! Heaven!!! Once we paid we headed to the noodle place!!
NIGHTMARE!!! the noodle place closed at 2100 and it was 2109 and they refused to serve us!!! I was fuming I had built it up in my head and now was devastated!! Vick was so apologetic thinking it was her fault which I told her it wasn't!! (at the time I did a bit but only because I was angry). I then couldn't make up my mind on what to eat, so walked around a bit until we found this place serving the local khmer food staple, I had lok lak and beef dish which was good (not noodle good).
We headed back to the hostel and chilled out watched a spooks after what seemed ages and then slept knowing we had an early start. (Our friend Martina from the trans Mongolian train had just arrived in Kampot so had arranged a 0745 breakfast with her, before the 0830 pick up for the tour)
Thanks all,
Love N&V X
