tis morning we flew early to Siem Reap. After being met and taken toour hotel we then headed to tAngkor Thom. this is an ancient city where the amazing Bayon Temple is located. this has 54 towers with 4 heads of the Buddha on each. The caarvings here are a record of the way of life in the 11th Century when the Khmer kingdom was at its height. This was very impressive and took over an hour to explore.
We then went to see the Terrace of elephants which is a huge viewing platform overlooking an ancient sports arena. the wall supporing this has fantastic carvings of elephants.
Tenit was off to the Angkor Wat.this incredible temple complex is huge with five towers and two courtyards. Again there are fantastic reliefs telling stories taken from Hindu mythology. It is a real marriage of Hinduism and Buddhism.

After a rest at the hotel, we walked down town and came across the restaurant area, Pub St and The Alley. We returned there later for dinner and free WiFi at Le Tigre du Papier. Beer is 50cents a pint during Happy Hour which seems to go all day and we had good steaks for $6-50. A Backpackers paradise and there seems to be plenty here. A huge thunderstorm added to the atmosphere and we were ferried home in one of the ubiquitous tuk-tuks which are motor scooters with a carriage on the back . Motor scooters are the main mode of transport and we have seen pigs, chickens 5 children and other essential items all being carried on the back with few helmets etc
