After a great day on the Campaign in Moshi Day 3 of the Moshi Safari For Souls Campaign 2008
1 brother restored to the church
1 new brother added to the church named John
174 Children in Bible Class this evening
After a long day... harder than most being my day on kitchen duty at the church building, Ive come to appreciate so much more how very delicous those beans and rice actually are. I've got blisters on my hands today from chopping fire wood with a long heavy axe and took turns with the other women who were there working together with me to prepare the Campaigners meals today. With a sore back from leaning over at the waist chopping and dicing the vegtables African style! We sorted and sifted out the 10 gallons of rice that was washed and cooked for today's workers there's nothing to describe how strange it is to see 2 five gallon buckets full of rice being dumped into the large kettle pots that we cook from over the open flame pits, we had three going at once. Thats a lot of RICE and a lot of wood to chop to keep it all cooking! But every bit of it gets eaten each
day!
We take for granted so many things and how easy cooking on a stovetop actually can be until you've sat all day over a 20 gallon pot with a 4 foot tall spoon stiring everything over an open flame... My knees arent what they used to be... so bending squating and all of the above mentioned activities took a toll on Julie Today.. but it was so much fun! Laughing together and the sweet time of fellowship with the ladies here in Moshi...
Breakfast: Hot Chai (tea) and Mandazi (fried bread)
Lunch: Rice, with A beef stew mixture with vegtables and beef cubes, and diced greens
(sounds simple enough but we began cooking at 10AM for lunch to be served at 2PM)
Following the return of all the campaigners from their morning studies and afternoon follow-ups, we started having children arrive for the 2nd day of their Bible Classes over an hour early! yesterday there were 93 children in attendance and today we jumped up to
174 CHILDREN FOR BIBLE CLASS!... this is just the children and not counting the teachers who were there helping. A crowded building full of children! It was amazing,
yet exhausting at the same time. The girls from KW taught the 4 various classes on people who love & serve God, with a translator by their side and a teachers aid yeilding a stick... haha wouldnt go over well in the states but its normal here. Then Penny, Callie, Emily & I manned the snack distribution, one tray at a time! Up and down the stairs with two classes meeting on the third story of the Church building and one in the auditorium and the 4th out front in the church yard.
After making sure all the children were out the gate and headed home, we made our way over to hear the end of George's lesson for the day at the preaching grounds. One man who was visited, returned to the church today after having been out for quite a long time and another man named John who studied with Ryan Tuten, put Christ on in Baptism this afternoon! So the Lord blessed the efforts in a mighty way and we are overjoyed to be here and be a part of all the good work that is being done!
Thank you again for everything you are
Moshi Children
174 kids on day 2.... It will keep growing each day! doing to make this all possible
Without your support there, we couldnt be here!
Love in Christ,
Julie Richardson
