What an amazing day it’s been! It’s a little on the cold side here in Arusha, but a wonderful start to the Ladies and children’s seminar none the less! Today started out by leaving the school building and gathering together at the Arusha Church building at 9AM. The Ladies Seminar and Men’s Seminars were held at the same time, the men just met at ACSOP while we were in town at the church building. From 9AM to 3PM.. Hard benches and all… But it always proves to be an amazing week of gaining great lessons and hearing some amazing speakers!

Today I had the privilege of being the MC for the Ladies. I love being able to introduce great women like the ones we had speaking today! Opening up in Song and prayer and we had 4 amazing speakers. Anna Massawe, wife of Josephat Massawe from Moshi was first on the agenda covering “The importance of Going Back to the Bible”. Next we had a short Chai (Hot tea) break then returned to hear an amazing lesson by Brittany Anderson on “Restoring Our Confidence in the Word” She is the daughter of Brian Anderson, one of the elders from Kensington Woods. Then came Nancy Smelser, who is here with her husband Dr. Danny Smelser opening up a medical clinic in the village of Monduli, with her great lesson on “Restoring Our Love for the Lost!” She had the cutest illustration on the Parable of the Lost coin.. and passed out shiny coins afterwards to remind everyone of what they learned. Following that we had the typical lunch break of beans and rice there at the building, eating with our hands having no utensils available and returned inside for another great lesson from Nancy’s daughter Lauren Smelser, who is here working with them before they return to the states for a short furlough next week. Afterwards we had Questions and Answer time and began preparing the building for the Children’s Seminar that was to follow just afterwards from 4PM to 6PM. As I looked over my shoulder I saw all the girls all spread out and sleeping across the pews… so tired and weary from a long day’s work.. I just had to take a picture! Of Course. Everyone is working so hard and these can get to be long days, spending over 12 hours at the church building, can wear the best of us out!

For the 1st day of the Children’s seminar here in Arusha we had 74 children in attendance, all spread out across the property. Each with their own lessons and crafts…. So cute! The girls did a great job at teaching. With so many ladies here to help out, we had the Kensington Woods girls and Freed girls all grouped together with each class. So that left us the snack table once again! Emily & Lindsey and Abigail helped out here, pouring Kool-Aid and washing cups while Penny & I passed out the goodies!

The funniest part of the day was watching the Massai guard at the building, all decked out in his Massai garb, sneak into the children’s class on the side wall, and he would giggle and snicker and laugh at the puppet skit even more so than the kids were, all the while with his giveaway Kool-Aid mustache and cookie crumbs on his upper lip… like a big kid! One little girl walked up to look behind the screen to see just what was making the puppets work…. And we had a lot of fun singing and playing with the kids!

Moving Forward... Back to the Bible
Jolee and Brittany Mcing for the kids part of the Seminar! A great day in deed… But its cold out here under the school pavilion and the internet is somewhat slow… so I will close with that for today and hope you enjoy the pictures! Thank you for everyone who worked so hard today at teaching and preparing for the group!

Joy and the Jensen family did a marvelous job at preparing the group dinner as we returned home to the school to smell delicious Taco Salad waiting for us after a long day’s work! Thank you to them as well as the cleanup crew who hung around afterwards to make things easier on everyone involved!

We were also thankful for our translators, without whom… none of this would ever work! Neema Martin, Margret Wechesa, Jane Desdery, & Tunu Mohamad

We talked about today’s lessons being focused on building up our faith and restoring within us a willingness to work according to God’s plan! Looking to Ourselves to make sure that we are in the faith! IN Hebrews 3:6 where is talks about holding fast to our boldness and confidence and the glory of our Hope firm until the end! Brittany gave 3 great practical points on restoring our Confidence in the Word that I really enjoyed and wanted to share with you! It’s amazing to see young ladies like this developing their courage and boldness to speak through their trips here to Tanzania! She said herself today that Africa has made a huge difference in her life in seeing how the Gospel changes the lives it touches and how Mission trips like this one helps you “to learn to Build up to carry a larger load!” Of course her illustration was in the idea of carrying a huge load of bananas on your head and how here the young girls learn as they grow and are able as they are older to Carry the Larger Loads! But the same holds true with the Spiritual application of it as well! I watched from afar today as Emily was helping serve and being a part of the girls working… learning to be a servant from girls like Brittany that you’ve helped to send over here! So thank you for the example of your youth, that is being put forth, through the young ladies working here with us during this year’s Safari for Souls Campaign!

1. Through PRAYER: Read 1 John 5:14
2. Through Studying and Knowing the Word: Read 2 Timothy2:15
3. Through Teaching the Truth: Read Acts28:30-31

Psalm 51:12-13
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

In His Service and Love,
Julie Richardson
