Paul's 7th birthday
Salome and the birthday boy! Last week was Paul's 7th birthday party which was very cute! After waiting around for 8 hours for my host dad to pick me up from the town ("I'll be in there in 20 minutes!" yeh sure...), i arrived after dark and found that they had waited for me. All the kids rushed into our house and we sat around handing out this sort of breadish-cake, popcorn, and cordial. All the kids were so excited to get the food even though it wasn't alot since there were so many kids. Paul was given a few birthday presents (a tennis ball and sunnies), and he was so happy with them.
Other than that, not much to report from Saikeri - There was the sports knock out competition last week and Saikeri Primary won the football after a very exciting game which means we could play at the festival - but i missed it because on thursday morning i headed to Dar Es Salaam!
After a 14 hour bus ride i finally met up with Sadha for the first time in 5 months! We've been spending the past few days in Dar, 'house sitting' for a British family in mzungu-ville
the kids at the party
thats janet in the green staying in a really posh house, watching movies, eating icecream, met Sadha's SPW friends, went clubbing, went to a really pretty (no tourists!) beach, shopped at markets, had Thai food, Chinese food, burgers..pancakes..bacon and eggs - all the food we've been craving for months. And after months of Ugali and being devoid of any flavour - it was freaking amazing!

So good you're in Salaam
Glad you had a safe trip to Dar, you finally met up with Sadha and are both enjoying a few 'luxuries'. Spoke to Amanda and she said you were both thrilled to see each other again. Please put more photos on your journal as I'm sure everyone would love to see them too. Lots of love, Dad
