We woke at 6.30am and went down for breakfast hoping it would sober us up. We didn’t know how we’d got home, and found the key still in the door of our hotel room. There was a dress code for the breakfast room which said Smart-Casual. Not sure if our pyjamas can be classed as smart-casual but nobody told us off. The food extremely was salty but we quite enjoyed it. We napped for another hour or so then had to get up and pack our cases and trek off to the airport. Quite possibly the last thing on earth I wanted to do right then. We dragged our cases across a motorway (yes, a frikin motorway) and stopped to drink some water and take off our hoodies. A really kind man came over and asked ... read more

For the first time ever I am starting a planned overland truck tour. I'm more used to travelling solo with no plans, therefore able to change my mind whenever I feel like it. Very nervous that everyone will be quiet or a freak and I'll be stuck with them for 3 weeks with no escape. Turns out, nothing to worry about, best trip ever!!! By the end we're a family. There are 22 of us, with ages from 18 to 54, some single, some couples, 9 nationalities. Most of us end up with a nickname after a couple of days, which we finally get on a group t-shirt at the end. After enjoying the Quarter Finals in Port Elizabeth, I had to go to the Semi Finals in Cape Town. Just had to do it. We began our ticket adventure at the Fan Fest with what felt like a million people dressed in orange. It was more packed there than any other game except for the 1st one with Bafana Bafana. After Uruguay's sour win over Ghana, they had very little support that we saw outside of the stadium. Not too many proud Uruguay fans. We did the entire fan walk from the fan fest to the stadium about 3 km FULL, packed FULL of Dutch supporters - blowing their vuvuzelas and chanting their songs. SO FUN. We walked to our normal meeting place, Giovanni's a fantastic little Italian deli, with coffee, sandwiches and all kinds of ... read more

We flew to Cape Town early, picked up the car, and made our way to the hotel downtown. The whole driving on the other side of the car and road is a non-issue now, but its still weird every single time. We hit a lot of the downtown sights on Saturday. We walked Long St, a street of stores, antique shops, food vendors, and bars - it reminds me a lot of South Street in Philly for those of you who know it. We hit up Green Market Square which is an outdoor market that requires bartering. This will forever be the place where I bought my vuvu (zella) which I'm sure many of you will learn to hate. We also walked the V&A waterfront which is where the rich and elite of SA come to ... read more
