We did see the Big 5 this day but the pictures are hard to find and up load so please excuse the lack of pictures for this particular story. There are plenty for others down the road!!!!!Break camp and head toward Lower Sabie doing some wildlife viewing as we went. Wanted to get there as early as possible to get the best possible site we could. Along the road we saw four rhino in various places. Were getting near Lower Sabie and there was a jam along the river. Geo: -25.4949, 31.5089August 9-Slow moving day to start but finally up and off on a game drive and a trip into Melalane to get something to add to the braii we have been invited to. We took one of the gravel roads that runs fairly close to the river. Did not see much game and things look very dry. Stopped at the Gardenia Hide where you could get out and look down at the waterhole. Only problem was the waterhole was dry with mud at the center where there possibly were a few drops of water. There was a large group of elephants there and they seem to be very upset with the lack of water. Geo: -25.5008, 31.5068One of the things we have learned in our many trips to Kruger is to pay attention to the school holidays and national holidays because the park will fill up and there will be no accommodations in the park! The school holidays for most schools in South Africa are the first two weeks in July and International Woman's Day, a national holiday is the weekend of August 8-10. We now try to miss the school holiday period or make reservations very early but it is sometimes hard to get several days together at any one camp during that time.
