We are not at the zoo and these animals are predators. The life in their clan or their pride is a life of survival, eat or be eaten.” Poignant……and very sobering. We are writing to you from the Simbavati River Lodge which is located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. Last night I was so tired I went to bed before 10:00 and thus awoke early just before 6:00 fully refreshed! When I opened the drapes my idyllic view of trees, pond and mountain was obscured by a cloud laying of top of it. After putting some things together, I looked up to see the whole scene clear and bathed in golden dawn light. Magical! I opened the French doors and delighted to hear the birds twittering. Breakfast, like dinner, was held in the Misty Mountain dining room overlooking the infinity pool and the breathtaking view above the mountains to the east, this morning touched by white mist. The menu was confusing - too many unfamiliar choices; I just ate a cold Scandinavian style meal, complete with papaya (tiny pieces and delicious). Then we hit the ... read more

Simbavati is the best place and is in the middle of now were best location to! Simbavati was my favourite on the hole trip. The wild life we saw the was craze we could almost touch the lions and the one elephant trumped and almost charged at us it was annoyed by us. So we left him alone. We did 4 game drives in all we saw one leopard that we fallowed for a long time it went all over the place and in the bushes it went over to were some baby elephants but the mom's scared it away that was high lite of the trip! Christmas day was great! We got up at 6:00am to open gifts. We opened are stockings and are presents. I got some pretty neat stuff like the beginners guide to the iPad, I got some us full stuff like a flash lite! At about 7:00 we went for breakfast. We had a lovely breakfast at the hotel restaurant there was a big variety of what we could eat there was a omelette bar were you could choose what you want in it and if you want just egg whites or only one yolk. The one downer on Christmas was that we were in the car for 4 hours. The one stop we had was great we had a nice lunch at a small town. There were 2 other families on are safaris.
