There were many depictions of humans at this rock painting site; at the rock engraving site in Twyfulfontein it was only animals

We had our 4th flat on the way to Sossusvlei dunes; bought a new tire here at this amazing oasis - they had a first-class bakery, a store, restaurant, all kinds of vehicle repair services and they were busy; must be a gold mine!!

Had dinner at a beautiful resort where at the 'game station' they served kudu, oryx, zebra, red hartebeest, wildebeest. They also had a stir-fry and fresh fish stations

Luderitz was sunny but very windy; our B&B was delightful and we needed a bit of luxury after 4 night of camping

Diamonds were discovered here in 1897 and by 1908 the Germans had set up a mining town; 20% of the world's diamonds at that time came from this alluvial site

Pulled by mules, this tram daily made its way around the town delivering water, ice and supplies to all the homes and businesses, plus the women of the town used it for shopping, going to the theater, etc.

This was a typical lodge with creative architecture - tons of open space

We saw crocodile and hippos right before we came upon this bathing scene

We visited a San village for two days. First day we spent in the village and enjoyed watching the women make jewelry and the men make arrows. These folks were watching others dance

Our second day in the San village we were taken on a hunt - spent all morning looking for any kind of wildlife, being shown medicinal plants, how to make snares and many other wonders

We walked thru all kinds of vegetation - lots of grassland, but also thorn veld

The youngest of the 3 San hunters climbed a tree to get an orange like fruit for us to try

I don't usually read much of your blogs... They are so interesting but long. But this one really was good. Camping in the bush was really interesting. Pictures were great!
