dear all, you will have to excuse the wait, i arrived back from marrakesh on wednesday evening, and had a rubbish day yesterday with only 2 students in the morning class and one in the evening one, but today i made sure i had a really well planned lesson etc., and the two hours flew by! now have the weekend off again to plan more lessons, but i don't like staying in rabat, as you may have gathered, so i think this may be done en route to the place with lots of flamingoes that i will be seeing with dassy... we had an incredible five days. we arrived in marrakesh on the friday evening to grey skies and rain, which was pushing it a bit, considering the weather we had been having up here, and ... read more

After a week or so, Drew and I departed from Tagazuit on a solid mission to achieve a visa for India . During our stay in the surf town, Drew blew out his eardrum in a gnarly surf fall. Our good friend, Sylvain gave us a lift to Agadir so we could visit the hospital and request a diagnosis. The effect was not too harsh, but would have to keep Drew out of the water for at least a month. After obtaining (medicament), we found the bus station and carried on our way to Rabat . We stayed in Rabat for a week, met the kind India Visa staff, applied for our visas and tried to make the most out of the busy city. We found some great places to eat, sat on the 5 story ... read more

dear all, excuse the negligence over the last week or so, and any poss mistakes, i am in a bit of a hurry to get back to dinner... ive had an intense couple of weeks, going to chefchaouen last weekend and ive just got back from a night in casa. chefchaouen was very good fun; it is a lovely little town in the rif mountains, which have long been associated with kif. we saw no reason to dispute that fact while we were there, and large amounts of the time there i probably have to tell you in person when i get back to england, as my parents will be reading this email.. it was probably prettier than essaouira, each building is washed in a lovely blue colour, so when viewed from afar, it actually seems ... read more

Part two of this nefarious travel blog centres around the coastal city of essaouira. after a long, and not hugely interesting journey down there (it is several hundred kilometres away and you need to go via marrakesh) myself, clea the mad danish girl, izzy the kennington lass and dassi the dundee damsel, were immediately accosted as we got off the bus by someone trying to persuade us to stay in his hotel. we resisted his charms, which involved following us at a distance of several metres until we entered the medina, and eventually found the place we had booked. it was a good walk into the medina and involved a fair amount of getting lost, and upon arrival it became quite clear that there was no electricity to be heard of either. after going through the ... read more

January 4 - 7, 2007 Thursday We woke up in Chefchaoen at 5:30 am and left our hotel at 6 am. Our bus was a little late so we ended up pulling out of town at 7:45 rather than 7, regretting that we could have stayed cold in bed longer. The bus was fairly jerky but we were both able to sleep a little because we were very tired. If you’ve read the blog for awhile you know that 5:30 am wakeup calls are not the norm. We arrived in Rabat around noon and took a taxi with a fast meter to the train station. Amy went to look at hotels while Roger stayed outside the station with the bags. The first hotel was a category 5 hotel ($50) but did not have heat. We both ... read more

perhaps we could call this part one of a fascinating travel journal started by me, here in rabat, although the really interesting stuff i'm afraid i don't have time to describe in the detail it deserves, but i am writing it up in an actual journal made of paper, so anyone who wishes can have a look when i get home. we could start at the beginning, but that involves a flight on an aeroplane, which is something most have gone through before. if you want me to go into detail, perhaps describe my feelings, then i can tell you that i was a bit nervous, after the experience that was my trip to egypt. i was also tired, as i had had to get up at half 3, and i was cold. because it was. ... read more

Hello!! Just got back from Morocco...it was truly unbelievable. I have so much to say, I'm not sure if I will be able to put it all down into words in one sitting, but I will do my best. Our group started off last Thursday night by heading to a town in southern Spain called La Linea. We spent the day in nearby Gibraltar, which is a British territory in southern Spain. You need a passport to enter Gibraltar, even though essentially it is only a small town, and they speak British English as well as Spanish there. Lots of fish and chips places, etc. The town surrounds a giant rock, which originally housed cannons and military bases. We got to go into one of these caves, carved out in the rock by natural and unnatural ... read more
