Feeding the Giraffs
Jacksonville zoo has some inter-active zone with the giraffs I feel like I really dropped the ball concerning this blog the past few months. Last I wrote (early November) we were headed to Florida to sing in the sunshine, visit church, family and friends. While there we tossed in a quick visit with Shamoo and Mickey Mouse. Early December we headed back to North Dakota for Christmas and our final shopping and packing to return to Ghana. We left our "winter wonderland" at 5pm Dec 29th. We arrived in "endless summer" 8pm Dec 30th.
God has been so incredibly amazing. The past 6 months were filled with dream after dream and wish after wish fulfilled. From perfect weather to great visits, events and homesteads. I don't have words to express it other then “God is so Faithful”. He longs to give us the desires of our hearts. He promises to do so for those who are in relationship with Him.
A few of you know, the packing for our return to Ghana is quite a big job. You also may know that I love the snow. These two events put together with the Christmas holiday make for quite a full calendar. I was so afraid the snow storm

They completely captured Praises attention. I think he could have spent an entire day watching the sharks and manta rays. would come during my busiest packing days. Aahh but once again God is faithful. We had a nice 2 inch dusting of snow until … after 90% of the packing was complete. On Christmas day the 3 day blizzard began! By the end of the storm, snow was up to the middle of the windows. We experienced most everything there is to experience with snow. Got the car stuck, pushed others cars out, sunk up to our thighs in snowbanks, had snowball fights, dug tunnels, went sledding and snowmobiling, etc. We were so full of blizzard weather and so snowed in we couldn't even get to the apartment 30ft from our own door where we prepared our luggage! Packing had to wait, so we spent our time playing in the snow.
For a 17yr old boy who's never had his own pocket money, Kwabena was impressivly responsible with his gift money he personally received throughout our trip. 95% was spent on gifts he brought back for his family and friends. Enough to fill an entire suitcase. He's grown, matured and changed. I'm so proud of him. I pray the impressoins of all the people he's met and all the

What a proud moment! places he's experienced are strong enough to guide him in coming years.
Kirk is ready to be back in Ghana but I and the boys wouldn't mind to linger a bit longer in the US. We have great family and such amazing friends. Unfortunately, we all have to wake up from our dreams at some point and move forward. Tomorrow morning we will pack our Nissan (SUV) with what we can fit and make the 6hr drive to our town of Dunkwa. We have lots of pictures and funny stories to reminise over as we clean and reorganize the house. In a few weeks we'll come back to the capitol city and collect the rest of our luggage.
In our last piece of luggage we packed a 13# turkey with all the fixins. Once we get the house in order and we are settled, Kwabena and I are going to prepare a meal for “My Girls”. (Three former students of mine who sort of live with us part-time.). It will be fun to bring back and prepare a small piece of America for them. Robert, another former student, has been making weekly calls to my cell phone here
Shoveling and Re-Shoveling
Kirk and Kwabena would work so hard clearning the walk. Within a few hours it would be blown over again. in Ghana waiting for us to return. So sweet. He told me that “My Girls” are visit their own parents and sibblings for Christmas break. Eager to greet us, he said, they left their own families this morning, a week early, and returned to Dunkwa where they are awaiting our arrival. These are the things/gestures that will bring my heart and mind back to Ghana.
This morning my niece Brenda greeted me with “Happy New Decade!” And that it is; not just a new year but a new decade in time. So I greet you with the same; Happy New Decade. May yours continually be filled with the Lords blessings and strengths.
“You can kiss your family and friends good-bye and put miles between you, but at the same time you carry them with you in your heart, your mind, your stomach, because you do not just live in a world but a world lives in you.” Frederick Buechner says … (your stomach???)
