We headed into Central Cairo to the Syrian Embassy today, thank god we took a taxi. To set the scene 4 marked lanes on the road equals at least 8 lanes of traffic.. 6 lanes = 12.. this is no joke.. and it is fast moving.

Lybia, our fixer has dropped off the face of the earth. We contacted another who was recommended to us from a recent traveler and the price for a 4 day transit was $2,500 US... Humm.

After a considerable time evaluating alternatives we have decided to go through Syria into Turkey and beyond.. Applied for the visa today and parted with $ 980 EP for 2 visas.

Oh the good part is we went to the Pyramids yesterday.. hired 2 horses and a camel and had a great time.. bad thing is my backside has suffered somewhat.. sitting down is now a little delicate.

The trip around the Pyramids is quite far so the options are horses or camels. Dave was not into horses but looked rather stylish on his camel.

This took some effort to get, firstly we had to find the upper carpark which took 1hour of driving around & around. Then the guards would not let us in because we had a gas bottle. Dam this pyramid is big if our gas bottle was a threat at 300 meters then i will eat my hat.
