How many visas are in it ? Which countries are they for?
When was it issued?
Have you ever run out of pages in your passport?
Hmmm thanks. I didn't stop to think about the fact that's going to last me for more than just this trip... *ponders*
Reply to this I'm interested in because you can travel Europe ok on a British passport right? And I also have an Aussie passport so I guess if I run out of pages I can use that one true?
I would use whichever passport will need the fewest or no visas and stamps. This will likely be the British one in Europe. I dont think you will have any trouble entering and exiting countries in Europe with a British passport and little trouble working in EU countries.
Reply to this Yeah that was my logic too. I'll carry them both though. It'll make getting back into Australia much quicker.
Reply to this Thanks so much for the links callufrax! I'm a little confused but that treaty though. So even though Britain isn't part of the treaty I can still travel most of Europe without a visa yeah?
More countries are joining the the treaty so they arent too rigid about the rules yet. At least I have never heard of anybody having problems with violating a few of the rules even when they had non EU passports.
Reply to this I have 4 passports so far.. the first passport has few stamps on it.. second one ...more stamps...mostly asian countries stamp..no visa..am a filipino so i can travel easily around southeast asia with just my passport..third one.. was an official passport. (red color, for government employees) and it has my schengen visa and a cyprus visa. My current one has a UK visa and hopefully another schengen visa..am going for my visa appointment tomorrow :-), has lots of blank pages still!
Reply to this Hi everyone, may I ask a question?
It's about time remaining on our passport.
My passport expires in 20 days time. Is there any requirement to have say 90 days on your passport to enter Germany or can a UK passport holder travel right up to the expiration of their passport?
thanks -Tom
Reply to this If you're from Canada and do a lot of long term traveling, you may want to keep all the old passports - to prove residency when you want to apply for seniors benefits at 65.
I have two pages currently used up with visa's and four more with stamps but unfortunately, I managed to wash (and dry) my passport recently so don't know how well that will go over.
Reply to this Tom,
Do not worry! A passport inside the European Union is valid even if he is expired. I think it is 5 years. Bear in mind that it is if you travel inside Europe and with a European passport. UK being not part of Schenghen can be an issue, but not for a European citizen. If you do have a national ID, this is sufficient, you don't even need a passport.
For info, for many countries around the world, Asia mainly, you need at least 6 months left of validity to get in the country.
Hope this help,
Peter
Reply to this Current passport has Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia full pagers in there - WHY do some countries - malaysia and thailand are particularly bad for it - insist on stamping over other countries??
I got the current one three years ago and im up to page 9. In Aus we now have to hand in our expired passports that are shredded (!) to get new ones. I got my first passport the day I turned 18 - 26 years ago - and still have that one as a very precious memory as I not only filled every page of it but it has stamps from countries that no longer exist in there.

All the more reason to only use my Australian passport when entering and leaving Australia.
Do any dual citizens know how strictly that is enforced these days? I used to use my Kiwi passport going into Australia years ago, before I knew about the requirement, and they didn't seem to be any the wiser.
