I guess it has been about 3 weeks from my last Blog, and a lot has happened since then. The weather has lightened up a bit here in BA, and most days have been between 40 to 65 degrees Farenheit. In Celsius, which they use here, I believe it has been between 4.4 and 18.5 degrees. We had a homemade Karaoke party in Diego's house with his friends. The song lyrics were running on my computer screen and we had a microphone hooked up to the stereo speakers. It was quite interesting, and the Argentines knew more songs in English than [View Full Entry]

hello from Argentina! I just wanted to let everyone know that I am having a great time so far here! I'm living with this great woman named Angelica who speaks very good english so i am doing fine with translating. I have my own bedroom but share a bathroom with her, which is fine. I went on a tour of the city this morning and couldn't understand half of what the tour guide was telling us, but it was nice to get out and about and see the places in Buenos Aires that I cannot walk to. That's another thing my [View Full Entry]

Dag 15.

Grabbed a quick breakfast this morning at home and hailed a cab to la Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the most prominent art museum in Buenos Aires. The building itself was pretty small, at least compared to the Met in NY and some of the SF museums we've been to, but the interior was pretty posh. The 1st floor was all European art, and at first I was pretty disappointed by the collection. While the early European collection was pretty cool, the next, largest room contained a huge collection of Dutch paintings, but it only housed a single Rembrandt. The Spanish [View Full Entry]

Today we decided to go and visit La Recoleta cemetery, where all the prominent and famous Argentinians are laid to rest. Of those, there is Eva “Evita” Peron, who surprisingly and unsurprisingly is the most iconic past figure there, and also one that everyone comes to see and mind you with that also comes with the territory, in terms of the fact that to take a picture of her you have to wait in line! The place in general was beautiful, and after that we just basically walked around the area and near the place and the cool thing about that [View Full Entry]

Up much earlier on Friday than the previous day, we headed out to one of several vast parks near our apartment. Sadly, the Jardin Botanico was closed for some odd reason, but we still took in the greenery before stopping for lunch with Becky's coworker Dale and his wife & daughter. From there, we hopped on a bus destined for Recoleta, one of the more upscale barrios in the city. We spent the next 2 hours exploring the Cemeterio de Recoleta, resting place of Buenos Aires' social elite. Many of the crypts were stunning, and the entire cemetery was a vast [View Full Entry]

Dag 14. Gikk for aa spise i 15-tiden.

Nothing much new, except that Wendy and I have slept entirely too much the last two nights... 11-12 hours a night, waking up at 2:00 pm... yikes! An interesting tidbit: our hotel room has a bidet! Oh the joys of wet butt. Last night Wendy and I went out for dinner and drinks; we went to two different bars - the first was called Deep Blue, where Wendy got the traditional Argentine drink, Fernet and Coke, which was absolutely repulsive. Then we found a fun Irish pub (yes, I know, and Irish pub in Buenos Aires), where we had great conversation [View Full Entry]
