So yeah, I started that thing called school today....after all, as my mother reminds me, that is why I'm here in the first place. To that, I say...pssh! Actually, out of all the people in this apartment, I think I'm going to be the one to take school the most seriously. My roommates keep trying to tell me that it's not that important and I can skip lectures, no big deal. Well, to that, I say...I'm graduating in less than a year and have no room to screw around with school work...I'd like to graduate on time! Holy cow...I'm graduating in less than a year, oh me oh my! Where in the world has 3 years gone? Anyway, I did start school today and it was quite interesting. Now, I only had one class so it ... read more

HELLO! Long time no entries...I know. Unfortunately, they lost a few of my blogs and I had not saved them on my hard drive yet, but no worries, I've got that all taken care of now and we'll start back over with what we have and go from there! Well, let's see....where did I leave off last? I think it was somewhere around the middle of last week! Well, on Wednesday and Thursday, I had orientation here on campus. There were different sessions on the services offered here, what to expect academically, free lunches, etc. The best part of all though (and the one that makes me laugh the most) is that for each session that we attended, we got a free drink bracelet. And no, I'm not just talking about soft drinks, I'm talking about ... read more

Well, today has been a very relaxed day around both town and around the apartment. It's my one day off from Orientation this week, so I decided to just run a few errands that I needed to get done and then spend the rest of the day working on some of this reading that I need to do for my IDC online class through Bellarmine and then relax around the apartment. So, in the morning I woke up and talked online for a while with some friends back at home and then I got ready for the day. After my long morning prep routine (haha- yeah, right!) I headed down to the Student Information Center. The SIC is kind of like our registrar, bursar, help desk, etc. all wrapped into one little office. So, I went ... read more

The title of this post is something I heard a man on the news say today. Not even sure what he was interviewing someone about as I was in the kitchen making my lunch, but I heard that quote and knew it meant something big to me. Today, I feel like has been a really good day! I feel like I really got out there and did a lot plus I learned a lot too! The day started with talking to mom and dad on skype for a little bit. Mom of course asked some of the weirdest questions but then again what are moms for other than to ask questions that make no sense to anyone else?! That's why we love them so much. So, mom, there is your picture of an Australian tree since ... read more

I've decided to keep a daily (or as close to daily as I can) blog on here so I can keep track of my daily adventures and the pictures that go along with them. I am much more of a computer type girl than I am a write it down on paper kind of girl, so this is my attempt at keeping my memories in one place from this adventure of mine! Well, today has been pretty exciting as my first full day in Aussie Land. (The picture is of a double rainbow that came through with the storms today). I woke up this morning feeling rested and VERY awake! This is to be expected as it was 6 pm back at home...so my body was thinking it was night time. I talked to mom, dad ... read more

WHEW feels like an understatement right now. I left home almost 40 hours ago and that seems crazy to me right now; however, my body does feel kind of like a train wreck. My 14 hour flight from LA to Sydney went okay...not very restful as there were a HUGE group of kids all traveling together, so they obviously were not interested in sleep. Then, had a short layover in Sydney which was almost too short as they check you (security wise) 3 times before you're ever allowed to board the plane; that was exhausting taking my shoes off, emptying my bags, etc. All in the name of safety. Then, we arrived in Melbourne at 9:30 am local time and I made it through Customs, etc. just fine and found my pick-up driver. As we ... read more

(This one got a bit stuck in the ether ... sorry about that) Perth really is a long way from the rest of Australia. We had been told this before (when we were also told about Bali being its nearest city) but it took the 5 hour flight out for all that to sink in. That flight also enabled Marissa to catch up on some much needed kip and me on some much needed movies. And so we landed in Melbourne. Our hosts for this week: the lovely Tom and Suzy. Although it wasn’t quite that simple. They were away for the weekend so Tom had devised an excellent mission for us in the style of the Krypton Factor - all swing bridges and crocodiles. The prize … the keys to their flat. We thought his ... read more
