Where is the time...gone in the blink of an eye!?-Billy Porter I have gotten really bad about updating this thing, but I've give it a whirl anyway. So this past week, I spent most of the early part of the week studying for my exam on Wednesday. The exam was interesting- set up very differently than the way we do things at Bellarmine, but I guess that's what happens when you have 300 people all taking one exam at the same time...welcome to a big school, Katie. The exam went okay- could have been better and it could have been worse. [View Full Entry]

Skies Oceania » Australia » Victoria » Melbourne » Hawthorn
One thing I have realized this past week is that I am going to miss the Melbourne skies. I have attached pictures of the sunset and skies that I have taken over this past week. Now that it is staying lighter much later (as in til around 7:30 or 8), I have been much more observant of the setting sun each night. I have been blown away by sheer beauty of what I've seen. Some of you have even heard me talk about how amazing it is to look out my window most afternoons and see nothing but endless blue...there literally [View Full Entry]

Warm Day

Rain clouds

What a week!!!! Well, this was the last week of classes here in Australia which is kind of crazy to think that an entire semester has come and gone so quickly. I think it seems so short because each subject only meets one day a week, which means we only have 12 classes....as compared to the 30ish classes we have per subject at Bellarmine. I got my test back on Wednesday and I got an 87. I'm happy with that....because that equates to an American A+. Here's the scale for grades: 100-85 High Distinction = US A+ 84-75 Distinction = US [View Full Entry]

Well...here I am, at 2 am, finally taking a breath to update this blog. This week is absolutely insane, which I'm happy about but realize that very little sleep is going to be taking place again this week. This weekend was pretty usual, meaning that it was fun and it went quickly. Friday night we went into the city to the trade bar where the drinks worked like the stock market. The more people bought them, the prices went up and vice versa. It was pretty cool- until Theresa started getting sick and the bouncer kicked us out- that is! We [View Full Entry]

Weekend Ahead Oceania » Australia » Victoria » Melbourne » Hawthorn
Hey everyone! Well, this week has been intense- stressful, emotional, sunny, and wonderful in it's own Australian way. Wednesday I had a test and it went pretty well, I think. We shall see this week when I get it back, but I think I did alright. Wednesday night after my night class, I came home to an email from the university president at Bellarmine with some heart-breaking news. The past few days have been tough. It's been tough to know that such a horrible thing happened at my home. It's been tough to know that my friends are hurting. It's been [View Full Entry]

I can't believe that it is the weekend again already. I literally have no idea where the past week went. Monday I spent time sleeping recovering from a weekend of camping and I also worked a bit on a big review sheet assignment that was due in my philosophy class. Berrak also came over that night as she's quite lonely in her new living arrangement. Tuesday was back to class again and more working on this review sheet. Wednesday I had class and also spent some time sleeping as I did not feel so great- my allergies are in full swing. [View Full Entry]

Shrine of Rememberance

First let me clarify for some of you...cough Ashley cough...I went camping at Wilson's Promontory this weekend...I did not attend Prom with someone named Wilson...HAHA! Well, Thursday night we (Craig, Jorai, Tom, Theresa and myself) went shopping at Safeway for food for the weekend and then Friday afternoon around 2 we met up, packed up the car and headed off to Wilson's Promontory. It is about 230 kilometers (about 160 miles) away from Melbourne and is also the southernmost point of mainland Australia. It took us right around 3 hours to get there as there was only a little bit of [View Full Entry]

First let me apologize that it has been so long in between updates, but my hope is that all you with the email that came earlier this week were able to be satisfied for the week. I have to say that things are just getting crazier here by the minute and so updates will probably be fewer and further between over the next 6.5 weeks. This week went pretty normal...except just much less free time. I did give myself a break on Tuesday to go toss the frisbee with Theresa and Tom for a while. Also, yesterday, Theresa and I went [View Full Entry]
