Strip by day
Strip by day
This was taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower.
Yes I know- we have been back for weeks...but this travelblog would not be complete without the final chapter of our trip- Viva Las Vegas! It was the perfect ending to our North American Adventure- thanks Hicks for the suggestion! We flew into Vegas late Saturday night. As the airport is not far from the Las Vegas strip we could see the light emanating from the many hotels and casinos as the plane descended. It was quite amazing. How much electricity do all these places use were our initial thoughts!! Sunday we began our exploration of “the strip”. I don’t [View Full Entry]

This is the location of the ceremony. Luckily the sun came out just in time.
Yey! After being jealous after seeing all the photos of Sal and Trav's wedding we finally get to go to one! Mark's aunt Cathy got married in Collingwood on Friday 11th of May. And boy was it a party! As you can see from the photos we danced the night away, along with most of the guests which made for an awesome wedding. We did get put to good use though, and after having run many wedding errands are not in any rush to be involved in one soon! The next morning, Cathy, Adrian and their crazy dragon boating friends [View Full Entry]

Our pathway across Canada...
Our pathway across Canada...
We took this route West just about the entire trip from Ontario to British Columbia
Last time we left you we were leaving the incredible Rockies and headed towards Whistler. We had to break the drive to Whistler up with a night in Kamloops and stayed in possibly the worst motel to date- but at least we bartered with all the Indian motel owners and got ourselves a deal, so we had to be happy with that part! More bad luck though… the Jeep was leaking coolant through a valve, so our drive to Whistler got delayed while we waited to have it fixed. Once we finally did get on the road we were stopped [View Full Entry]

Lake Superior
Lake Superior
It was hard to believe that this isn't the ocean! But it provided a magnificent backdrop to driving through Ontario.
Cross Canada Trip Mark Jones After 22 days, approximately 5000km, 2 car problems, 4 dodgey hotel rooms, 5 provinces (aka states) and 10,000 pictures later we arrive in Vancouver! We have made it across Canada! But let us fill you in on the trip that was……! It took us 3 days to get out of Ontario itself! However the drive around Lake Superior, which is absolutely giant and forms a boarder between Canada and the US for a large part of Ontario, was spectacular. It is hard to believe it is a lake, as when you loo [View Full Entry]

This inukshuk is located at "Sunset Pint" in Collingwood. Its Collingwoods little joke- you don't actually get to see the sunset properly from there- very funny!
Howdy fellow Aussies! Well our working days are almost over! The ski season at Blue Mountain is coming to a rapid end, aided by increasing temperatures (today it is a balmy 14 degrees!) and a lot of rain! Next week we will head off on our cross Canada road trip for about 5 weeks before heading back to Collingwood for aunty Cathy’s wedding. Then we will only have a few weeks before hitting home soil once again. But before I get too ahead of myself, let me update you on what social occasions we have managed to fit into our [View Full Entry]

This is the view at the top of one of the runs. Spectacular!
Hi all, greetings from Collingwood. Hope you are all well and behaving yourselves. And of course staying cool- the weather has been a bit intensely hot from what I hear. Hope you have those fans out and in good use! We are glad to report that we think our bad luck is finally behind us and we had a successful trip to Mont Tremblant in Montréal, Quebec at the beginning of the month. Well that is after we had our car repaired when it didn’t start- the night before we were due to head to Toronto to meet up with Cathy [View Full Entry]

Hi again! And Happy Australia Day!!! We had a few (Canadian) beers over here to celebrate- don't you worry! We are pleased to announce that the snow has finally arrived in Eastern Canada and we have stopped being poor bums and are now are honest working people! After continuing to bide our time in Toronto and mooching off Marks relatives we decided it was too dangerous to drive over to the West to work as they were having crazy blizzard weather. So we decided enough was enough and we were going to start the next phase of our trip as planned [View Full Entry]

Hi all! Firstly we hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and New Years and that you all managed to have a bit of a break and enjoy a beverage or two! Last time we wrote we were in Durham, staying with Marks’ Nan, who was tickled pink with our company! She even took us to church to “show us off” to all her friends in the congregation!! So we had some down time staying there and managed to fill up our hours looking for a car only to find absolute duds. During our time in Durham we both managed to secure [View Full Entry]

A little bit of snow!
A little bit of snow!
This was taken when during a hike on the top of Blue Mountain we did with Mark's aunty. Hiking through the snow is a great way to burn some calories!
Hi! Just a quick entry to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. We hope you have a wonderful time with your families! We are currently staying in a little country town call Durham- only 2,500 people! We are staying with Mark's Nan. We would write a longer entry about what we have been doing since we've been in Canada but today we are on tight time restrictions as we are visiting Nan's best friend in the next town over! Sorry duty calls! For Christmas we will drive Nan down to Torronto (about 3 hours from here) to have Christmas morning with Marks [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone! We have finally arrived on the other side of the world! We initally stayed in Anaheim which is where Disneyland is situated and used our Deal or No Deal money to buy us a room in a hotel 700 metres from the park. First thing we noticed about this strange new place- everything is BIG! The roads are super wide, the cars are massive (we only saw two barina sized cars in 6 days!) and the drinks you get served are definitely a large size by Australian terms, however these Americans are claiming that they are at least a [View Full Entry]
