Hi everyone, So... last week we visited a beautiful little town called Daylesford. We spent two days here exploring and relaxing in a spa before heading to the Great Ocean Road :-) Driving along the Great Ocean Road is by far the highlight of my whole trip so far! Nothing has beat it yet! We spent two days along the Great Ocean Road and were lucky with the weather on the first day - beautiful sunshine and clear skies to view the coastline and 12 Apostles, however, the second day we had torrential rain and thunder storms... It added to the excitement of the trip I suppose! It was nice to view the same sights in two different lights and it did make the driving slightly hairy/ interesting on the way back! The photos I have ... read more

We had heard a lot of good reports about Daylesford, and being so close, we decided to ride there and look for ourselves. Its a lovingly restored heritage country town with some wonderfurl old buildings in lovingly restored. We did a bit of a recon first and some parts of it appeared to be a cross between Berrima and Nimban, quite a sight to see the worlds oldest hippie, long grey hair, beads and bangles, going down the street with his walker. The only thing missing was the smell of hash, floating on the breeze. Having been to Ni ban once, a few years ago, we can attest to the quality of the air up there. Having said that, everyone appeared to be remarkably happy and laid back. We then rode up tp Hepburn Springs, known ... read more

We are on the road again, driving down to Melbourne to catch the ferry to Tasmania. Our first overnight stop was at Gundagai - we had a pretty spot by the fast-flowing Murrumbidgee. Considering how dry the country is from Sydney south, we were surprised at just how full and fast the river was - melted snow from the Snowy Mountains? While the top half of the east coast is experiencing terrible floods, we've passed, from north of Gundagai on, half empty dams, creeks with just a trickle in them and paddocks and hills dry and wheat coloured. The black Angus cows stand in stark contrast to the gold grass but the sheep blend in and are almost invisible. There have been quite a few fires down here lately but not, thank heavens, where we have ... read more

On our last day in the gold mining country, our friend took us to Daylesford, a resort and spa town founded in 1852. Full of places where you can get such services as massages, reiki, shiatsu, acupuncture, aromatherapy, reflexology, spiritual healing, and tarot readings, it is definitely the funkiest of the little towns that we went to. We visited stores along main street and ate lunch in a former convent that’s been converted into an art gallery (I had Greek Salad with grilled calamari – once again proving that Australian calamari is THE best I’ve ever had). Our waitress was from New Zealand. Loud and joyful, she took such good care of us, insisting that we try the sticky date pudding for dessert. After lunch we drove down to the spa situated in a valley. Both ... read more

http://www.mediafire.com/?83y7591wzozje2m Well it's getting closer and closer to departure time - and I gotta say - I'd STILL rather be here - especially now the rains have finally come and the dam is actually starting to look good. SAID HANRAHAN by John O'Brien "We'll all be rooned," said Hanrahan, In accents most forlorn, Outside the church, ere Mass began, One frosty Sunday morn. The congregation stood about, Coat-collars to the ears, And talked of stock, and crops, and drought, As it had done for years. "It's looking crook," said Daniel Croke; "Bedad, it's cruke, me lad, For never since the banks went broke Has seasons been so bad." "It's dry, all right," said young O'Neil, With which astute remark He squatted down upon his heel And chewed a piece of bark. And so around the chorus ... read more

Tiger Woods is coming to Australia! Tiger Woods is coming to Australia! This was a very exciting news event and 6 months before he was due to play the Australian Master in Melbourne i had bought tickets to Day 2 of the game with the small problem of it being in Melbourne. And...we had a 23 month old that probably wouldnt stay still and be quiet as watching golf really requires. But... i had tickets!!!! So we headed over to Melbourne and stayed at the Plum Apartments on Collins Street which is a fantastic location. It is within walking distance of everything or less than a block to trams and 1 block from Flinders Train station and Federation square. We rented a 2 bedroom apartment as my fil was coming along to the golf too and ... read more
