Asia » Thailand » North-West Thailand » Chiang Mai June 27th 2014

Hi to everyone back home! I have just spent 5 amazing days in Chiang Mai, Thailand (I think one of my favourite places so far!). There were lots of beautiful temples to visit where all the locals and the monks were so very friendly and willing to answer all of my many questions. One of their answers seems to spiral into a load of additional questions from me! Chiang Mai, although the second busiest city in Thailand (after Bangkok) had a wonderful calming feeling about it. I think London could learn a thing or two from Chiang Mai. The highlight of my time in Chiang Mai was visiting the 'Elephant Nature Park', just north of the city. The park is a sanctuary for abused/ over worked elephants. I was very humbled and felt extremely emotional when ... read more

Asia » Thailand » South-West Thailand » Phuket June 7th 2014

Hello everyone, Firstly, apologies for my complete lack of blog posts the past month or so... I have have been frantically studying for my degree and I have had numerous deadlines to meet. It has not been easy by any means as I have often not had an internet connection! However, all done now and back to enjoying things! I am currently in Phuket, Thailand which is absolutely beautiful! There is lots of rain at the moment as it is their wet season, but enjoying all the sights none the less and loving the Thai food! My fave! We have visited so many places in South East Asia so far and all have been amazing! I fell in love with the Gilli Islands (near Lombok and Bali) as they are so far from anything I have ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Northern Territory » Uluru April 27th 2014

Hi all! Prepare yourself for the most spectacular photos yet! I have just spent 3 nights in the centre of Australia, in Uluru. Also known as 'The Red Centre'! Or as I like to call it... PROPER AUSTRALIA! :-) During my time here I visited Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta... I enjoyed many beautiful but very challenging walks, sunrises and sunsets over both rock formations, an amazing dinner under the stars, a tour of the southern hemisphere's night sky, indigenous dancing and a huge amount of information on the culture and traditions of the Anangu people, which was so fascinating. All so special and I feel very privileged to be a part of it. This is by far the most amazing experience I have had so far! Lots of love, Miss Jo x PS. Next stop ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Port Douglas April 23rd 2014

Hi everyone! So, last stop along the East Coast - Port Douglas. 2500kms later and we have made it! I am sure you could add a few more kms on to that figure for driving around each destination as well! It has been SO tiring but absolutely worth it. Port Douglas is beautiful, one of my favourite places along the East Coast. We arrived to a great big tropical rainstorm, so loud and relentless... I have never experienced anything like it! During my stay here I visited Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation and The Great Barrier Reef. Cape Tribulation is the only place in the world where two world heritage sights meet: the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef... the rainforest overspills onto the beach, very special. Cape Trilbulation was named by Captain James Cook when ... read more

Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Gold Coast April 7th 2014

Hi everyone, Happy holidays! I hope you are all having a brilliant Easter break? I have finished teaching Term 1 in Melbourne so... the travelling really begins now! We are driving and working our way up the East Coast of Australia from Byron Bay - Port Douglas :-) So far we have had 2 nights in Byron Bay where we discovered a beautiful coastal walk from Byron Bay to Cape Byron, viewing the most easterly point of Australia's mainland and an extremely old (slightly scary!) lighthouse. Byron Bay is a very small holiday town with lots of lovely places to eat and drink whilst listening to live music. Most of the live music was played by local teenagers busking... all were extremely talented! We then had 2 days along the Gold Coast, visiting lots of beaches: ... read more

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well? I have heard that the sun has managed to come out back home now, where as Melbourne has managed to find the rain! I have attached some photos of Yarra Valley for you all to look at :-) Yarra Valley is very picturesque and extremely beautiful, lots of stunning countryside to look at and explore. We visited a couple of famous wineries as well :) We don't have long left in Melbourne now, only two weeks left of teaching and the end of Term 1, then we fly to the Gold Coast on 6th April. From here we are travelling and moving around constantly until we arrive back in the UK on 24th July... so there will be LOTS of photos and updates for you all constantly! Lots ... read more
