"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy itself has outsold the Encyclopedia Galactica because it is slightly cheaper, and because it has the words "Don't Panic" in large, friendly letters on the cover" Which is the of course the desktop wallpaper of choice on our Ipad, kind of like our Hitchikers guide. I'm sure the phrase "DON'T PANIC" shall come to mind from time to time and is in itself great advice, as I attemp to fit all the stuff which I need for the trip into my trusty Macpac. ... read more

With careful planning and phonecalls we were able to plan a Skydive for Kevin for his birthday. I never quite felt I got the sympathy vote as to how scary jumping out of an aeroplane was and how high up you fly to expereince the ultimate free fall. It was now his turn, he had often said that he would like to do a jump so his wish came true. It was a beautiful sunny day with clear blue skies giving 100% visability over Redland Bay and Kevin said he could see pods of dolphins and whales below in the sea. We lost sight of the plane as it soared higher and higher and could only spot him as his chute opened and he approached the ground at an alarmimg speed! A neatly executed landing on ... read more

We drove out to Redcliffe quite early in the morning and stopped at a scenic viewpoint. We all got out of the car and while Dad and Richard were playing frisbee in the park, Sophie and I walked down the path and around the corner where we found a shipwreck on a beach. It was really cool, and I took lots of photographs of it. We then stopped a bit further down the town and got some lunch from a bakery. We went and sat on the seafront and had our lunch while we watched the sea. The sea was very rough thanks to the earthquake in Chile and the tsunami that had hit New Zealand. There were rough sea and strong current warnings in place and none of us were going to dare to go ... read more

Today we left home at about 08:40, drove to McDonalds and grabbed some brekkie. We ate it as we drove towards the sunshine coast along the M1. We stopped at the bait shop and bought some worms, mackerel and some new hooks before we left the mainland and headed over the bridge to the island. When we got to the island we stopped in the car park near the beach and let some air out of the tyres. Dad drove down the sand track to get to the beach and we were skidding all over the place. It was really fun. When we got down onto the beach, Dad and I swapped places and I drove all of the way to the other end of the beach where we stopped and parked up. Dad and I ... read more

Spent Christmas day in Redcliffe with Sarah, Deon, Amy & Sienna. It's was a bit of a weird feeling. I'm so used to been wrapped up in England because it's really cold outside. It's also the first Christmas I've been without my family. The weather wasn't hot but it was very humid, shorts & singlet weather. Amy opened her presents and was playing with them all day. Especially an electric guitar which was the noisiest one of the lot. Sarah & Deon bought me a new wallet and a CD, and my mum sent me some t shirts which was really handy as my originals are starting to get holes in now after 4 months of continuos wear. Sarah made a beautiful Christmas dinner with Turkey and all the trimmings. I even tried Brussels sprouts which ... read more

I can immediately smell and almost taste the salty sea air as soon as we arrived at the beach of Redcliffe. It was a nice “not so” sunny day as the sun hides behind the clouds. The blue sky is still visible amid the clouds. The drive along the beach is really pleasant. The beach is lined with majestic pine trees, parks, playgrounds and BBQ areas. The atmosphere is very laid back. There are a group of people flying kites, some playing ball games and others simply taking a stroll along the beach. Little Ryan indiscriminately collects any seashells he sees. After awhile, he started picking up only the nice and unique ones. It’s amazing how a two year old easily learns. There’s huge orange X mark at the middle of the beach and wondered what ... read more
