About two months ago as the weather cooled... my little ones said to me... "It must be time for the Ekka again soon Mum" OH OH So now that is is established that the kids think The EKKA is one of our family traditions see last years entry The EKKA aka The Royal Queensland Show , we the parents had to suck it up, pull up our socks and suffer in our jocks... heee heee So this year with generous monetary donations from Grandmas and Great Grandmas the kids were able to enjoy themselves to the full. We started off in Side Show alley looking at each ride, to determine which ones they would ride (due to costs they were only allowed 2 rides 2 games) They have wanted to go on the Dodgems for many ... read more

great weekend... whhoooo hoooo... Anzac day was a long weekend. After paying our respects to those who have fought in wars, we headed off on a family holiday to visit friends in Noosa and Gympie. We were able to crash a nice resort. Our friends from Melbourne were staying there. There were no staff to kick us out, so we made use of the spa, pool and bbq area and had a great time catching up with friends. Spa was very relaxing - shame about some kids there that just wouldn't leave us alone ;) Went and played along the Noosa River. We were very lucky that our friends chose to share with us. The weather was so good - wheres the cold gone? That we even got sunburnt! unlucky! After Noosa we headed off to ... read more

Manly Pool - Swimming Carnival The Church Swimming Carnival was postponed. This is why we were swimming in the FREEZING... March weather. If you aren't from Australia - it would be counted as a nice warm day - possibly even hot, but for us locals if the temperature is under 25 degrees celcius well we are just plain cold. It probably didn't help that the pool was situated at Manly - a seaside suburb and the pool is located ON the water, almost in it. And that the swimming carnival is held at night, so no sun to warm us up after the races. Well I can't say "us" as I successful weaseled out of swimming in any races. The kids swam and turned purple, but not me... No I was so hopeless that a lady ... read more

We had a fantastic Easter and we didn't even really go away anywhere, just here and there. We spent a lovely Good Friday dyeing eggs, baking hot cross buns, then headed of to the grandparents and went swimming in their somewhat heated pool - so nice to still be swimming - very relaxing - well that is if you don't count the crazy kids bomb diving on top of us. We then headed down to the water and had fish and chips for dinner at Raby Bay. The sunset was magnificent and we took some lovely photos in the golden glow. The kids dangled over the edge looking at all the little fish that they were tricking by dropping leaves in to them.... the fish thought they were being kindly fed, so hordes of them ... read more

Australia Day this year fell on a Saturday, So being the greedy Australians we are, we still get to have the "holiday" on a weekday (so we can have a day off work). This turned this years Australia day into a 3 day long weekend. With school starting up on Tuesday, monday was the end of holidays. We had a beach day planned with my husbands wonderful young adult group. It has rained nearly all summer holiday - amazing for a place in a drought, so it was fitting that the last days of holidays were hot and sunny. Once they were in the water, it was impossible to get them out! Miss 4 is a total water baby and was almost body surfing. The water was very choppy and there was a definate rip pulling ... read more

I WENT IN A HOT AIR BALLOON... ALL I CAN SAY IS WOOO HOOOOO!! After 6 weeks of failed attempts we finally floated over Brisbane. With no phone call by 4am to call it off, I jumped in the car and headed there as 4:30am is leaving time. We glimpsed a beautiful sunrise from the park and were then crammed into a 4WD - 9 of us in the back - and driven north as the winds were blowing south westerly, so we could have maximum time in the balloon. At the park they recurited helpers from our group and we pushed the basket off the back of the trailer, and my brother was asked to hold the balloon while they filled it with cold air, then the hot air. While this was happening the rest ... read more

We are on our way to the Ballet. Our first time actually. So not really sure what to expect, lots of people prancing around in tights?? We had various things to do before we arrived and after completing the list early we went to New Farm park to spend some time before we had to pick up a friend also coming to the ballet. Well we were very lucky. Last time I went to the Park, the roses had been hacked to short thorny sticks, but now, we got to witness the beauty after the extreme pruning. Thousands upon thousands of roses. It was dusk, and so beautiful. Vibrant reds, pinks, peach, yellow, orange. So now I don't need any flowers for a while. We had our fix. And we were very good kids and obeyed ... read more
