The Perfect Strawberry
The Perfect Strawberry
picked by our family
Our Weekend away at the Sunshine Coast Installment #1 I took so many photos that I have to do this in installments! So we packed up the car and headed to the coast! Due to requirements of the holiday park about bringing your own linen the car was full of sheets, blankets and pillows. I think soon we will have to buy roof racks or a trailer!! Or get rid of one of the kids, or get a bigger car! First stop on this weekend of fun... We got to TIPTOE through the Strawberry Fields. A friend of mine always has [View Full Entry]

Bunyaville

 Oceania » Australia » Queensland » Brisbane
A FIRST YEAR BIRTHDAY PARTY AT BUNYAVILLE What to do with childhood memories? Bunyaville State Forest, located 12 km north of Brisbane is 620 ha of regrowth woodland and open forest. Vegetation on private property links it to state forest in the west. The pictures will show that this is typical Australian bush. Green brown in colour, scrubby, sticky (as is lots of sticks) and at the moment very dry due to the drought. Although not a big "forest" it is located in and very near to lots of suburbia, so it is a quiet respite in Brisbane for both [View Full Entry]

GABBA STADIUM I"M GOING TO THE GABBA, I'M GOING TO THE GABBA Showing my sporting prowess at the Gabba!! This entry will pretty much be only interesting to those who like BIG EMPTY STADIUMS! Today I got to go inside the Gabba!! (short for Woolloongabba cricket/football grounds for those who don't know) It is one of only 2 or 3 stadiums in Brisbane. I have never been to a Brisbane Lions AFL game or the cricket so I had never been inside. But today that all changed! It was Awesome... and I didn't have to pay... well I payed in [View Full Entry]

Fists clenched, eyes wide, holding my breath, praying - one arm around rope along the side of the boat, the other holding on for dear life to a hand rope. One foot through a foot hold. Glancing over to make sure my daughter is still in the boat. The wind blowing my hair back horizontally. Screaming "Slow Down" only for it to be lost to the wind. Jumping up over waves and back down with a bang, wondering if I will live to tell this tale. Relaxing, squealing with delight, enjoying the sites, adrenalin - Yes these are the experiences [View Full Entry]

PARTY TIME 80 YEARS YOUNG!! AND STILL GOING!! My Grandmothers 80th Birthday celebrations were held at the Royal Queensland Golf Club in Eagle Farm. The golf course is on the Brisbane River and almost under the Gateway bridge. Apart from a bit of construction work going on right under the club house (preparations for the second Gateway Bridge) the views were green and blue (it was wonderful weather with bright skies.) And apart from walking around the building twice - I couldn't see the entrance and the members only door scared me a little!!- I finally found the fro [View Full Entry]

Gympie In 1867, Queensland, was facing possible bankruptcy when James Nash discovered gold near the present site of Gympie. Today Gympie is the major provincial city and serves a population of 60 000. Gympie is located on the Mary River, 160 kilometres north of Brisbane. Friends in Gympie invited us over for the weekend. Whhoo Haaa!! Time for some chillin' and relaxin' in the country! . Driving there a car almost hit us trying to get into our lane. I think maybe we were in their blind spot, but it was scary none the less. Defensive tactical driving by the h [View Full Entry]

Southbank take 2 We always seem to end up at Southbank.... Lucky we like it!! We had the opportunity to stay at the Saville Hotel at Southbank. A family friend of ours is relocating to London and is staying there until they leave. When the opportunity arose to have a "Girls Night" we had to take it. Two mums, 4 little girls and one newborn provide much fun and mayhem for the night. With little sleep we were up to see the sunrise, swim in the spa (the pool was too cold) and have a great time. It's not often that [View Full Entry]

North Pine Dam The Traditional Easter Monday BBQ Breakfast was on again this year!! We had a wonderful breakfast with family and a couple of friends. We love going to Bullocky Rest at the North Pine Dam. The damming of North Pine River created an artificial lake called Lake Samsonvale. It is about 40 minutes north west of Brisbane. The eggs were hidden in trees and grass along the dam. The girls thought it was the best thing ever. Hiding eggs in a large open area is always more fun than just looking around the back yard for them. As there [View Full Entry]
