Brisbane City Musings from several city trips. I have one day a week without the older girls, so it is just me and the baby cruising the city!! It has been quite nice to go and walk in the city, something I haven't done in a long time. Taking our students up to the Rotunda at Kangaroo Point to take photos of the city. We regularly have international students so on the first day they arrive we usually take them up there as it is a good spot to see Brisbane and take photos. I tried to take a Panorama shot [View Full Entry]

This is a compilation of photo's from various outings to New Farm Park On a recent Saturday morning we were having a breakfast with the ladies from church. While we were waiting we went down the the river bank under a tree. There was a "thud" sound and we went closer to investigate. A really big and heavy seed had fallen out of the tree. We look up and see that the tree is full of seeds. I tell the girls that we better not sit under that tree, if a seed fell on your head it would do alot [View Full Entry]

NEW FARM FARMERS MARKETS 2nd and 4th Saturday each month at the Powerhouse from 6am-11am After a terrible week with the baby waking during the night my husband offers "Would you like to sleep in on Saturday and I will get up with the kids and cook pancakes?" Whilst this is a most wonderful offer, I know that I will still wake up around 5am with the baby, and that the kids will make lots of noise and I will have to try and sleep through that. So instead I countered with " How about I go to the New [View Full Entry]

Dessert - the best meal of the day? At any time of the day? Need I say more? The low down on what is currently my favourite restaurant in Brisbane...... However this may be due to the fact that I rarely eat out at restaurants and I have been to this one four times in as many months, considering how many places there are to eat out here, that might be a bit of overkill... but oh well. Southbank Random thoughts from many trips to Southbank What to do when your 3 year old wakes up at 6:30am and asks "when are we going swimming mummy?" You head to Southbank of course. Did someone say "A beach in the city?" Yes... Brisbane is lucky enough to have a man made beach near the Centre of Brisbane and our family loves it!! So being within walking distance we head off and are at the beach bright and early before it gets hot. I find the beginning of the week is less busy then the end of the week. You can [View Full Entry]

On Saturday Night we attended a wedding aboard the Kookaburra River Queen paddle boat. There are two boats - one 3 levels, one 2 levels. The boats have been around since 1986 and 1988 offering trips up and down the Brisbane River for lunch or dinner and for functions and parties. We were on the smaller one, but had the whole boat just for the wedding reception. It was a wonderful evening. Enjoyable, Intimate and lots of fun. There were about 60 people, so a nice little group. We took the baby with us and of course she was doted on [View Full Entry]

A BBQ at the beach on Australia Day.... well it doesn't get much more Australian than that does it? Australia Day is Australia's official national day, on the 26th January. It commemorates the landing of the First Fleet in Sydney Cove on that day in 1788. By 1808, the day was being celebrated as 'First Landing' or 'Foundation Day'. In 1818 (the 30th anniversary) Governor Macquarie had a 30-gun salute at Dawes Point and gave government workers a holiday. In 1938 the 150th anniversary of British settlement in New South Wales was widely celebrated. In that year, NSW wa [View Full Entry]

More on Australia Day.. See previous entry for more details. The Australia Day entry was my first go at writing a longer blog and experimenting with the photo's. I noticed I had lots more photos left over so thought I would add them here. Being able to spend Australia Day with the Young Single Adults who are 18-30 years of age and for whom my husband is the Bishop, was great. They are young and active and love to spoil our kids so we feel very blessed to be able to spend time with them. Always entertaining, giving, polite, fun and [View Full Entry]
