Casa de McFarlane in the snow
Hey, well the travel entries have been pretty quiet of late as all I do these days is work work work. But just thought I’d take some pictures of the weather we've been having in the UK over the last week. It was -3 when I came home from work in the early hours of the morning. Even had a bit of an off road driving experience. The other about 5 inch of snow fell whilst I was working, I set off home down the slope next to the hotel when the car started to slide and I ended up on the golf course. Me & Wally
Well, I can't believe it's been a year but I’m back. My mum and sister picked me up from the airport and I even managed to arrive back on a sunny day, which apparently has been very rare this year in England. Chilled out mostly on Saturday and caught up with my family and went out on Sunday to catch up with a few friends. All in all things are pretty much the way I left them. Hopefully start looking for a job this week and see what the bank balance looks like. Oh the joys of the real world. Still at least my sister didn't burn my house down.... read more
Safari
Well you can't go to Africa and not do a Safari so I took a day trip to a game reserve to see some of the animals you can only see in this part of the world. Was fantastic to see them in a more natural environment than a zoo but the weather was crap. The ranger thought we were all crazy to come out in that weather but as soon as he asked where I was from he laughed and said now I understand. Last day tomorrow before I fly home.... read more
Jaws
Well I’ve been saying I wanted to do it for a while now so I bit the bullet and went for it. Can't believe a year ago you wouldn't have got me to swim in the sea in England, never mind jump in the water with a Great White. It was a fantastic experience and I definitely want to do it again. Was even talking to the guy about working with the sharks as a volunteer. Be serious bragging rights in the pub, "So what do you do for a living?" "Oh I work with great white sharks". Wasn't really that nervous until the guy told us to get the wet suits on and I took a look at the flimsy cage that we had to get in. I wouldn't have thought it would be safe ... read more
Me Jan & Dan in Sydney
Well I can't believe how fast the year has gone. It only seems like yesterday i was on the way to the airport to fly to New York. Been in Sydney for the last month working for swatch group in customer service. Had a great time in the city and made a few friends on the way. Been to Bondi and manly beach, been to watch the Bronco's play and put away a fair bit of tooheys. Just in the Airport waiting to board the plane to South Africa so this really is the final leg of my journey now. Didn't take any pictures in Sydney as i did the touristy thing in november but i'll be flashing the camera all over when i get to cape town, especially when i do the shark dive. Hope ... read more
If your wondering why I haven't made an entry in a while its because the computers here are S#@t. I've tried 3 different ones now and i can honestly say I've known dead people move faster than these things. Was thinking of getting a bit rock an roll earlier & smashing them up after the 5 attempt failed to upload my pictures. Sorry about the rant but after working in IT for the past 7 years i find it very frustrating. Rest assured when i can get on a PC that isn't running windows '1978 I'll put my entries in. Me in the top end
Hey everyone, I know it's been a while since I made an entry but I’ve been so busy with work right up to leaving the Malpass. I left on the 3rd of August on the bus up to Cairns. Spent a couple of days in the city, Did a sky dive on Monday morning a couple more bungy jumps in the afternoon. Hired a wicked van & set of Monday night to Darwin. The first stop was the Blue Healer, a pub on the highway that’s supposed to be pretty famous. Had a quick beer & signed the walls for prosperity. Next stop was McKinley which is home to the famous pub from the Crocodile Dundee films, "The Walkabout creek hotel", had heard about it ages ago and decided I had to pay it a visit. ... read more

Did a day trip to the great barrier reef while i was up in cairns. Its just as spectacular as you might imagine. Also got the opertunity to do some scuba diving. Really go the bug for it now and hope to do a course sometime next year. Unfortunately didn't get any under water photos but i will next time. Tomorrow i do a bungy jump. Coolangatta, Gold Coast
Sorry I haven't updated this for a while, when I get more time to add some other entries and upload my pictures I will. I'm back at Coolangatta for a few days with my sister Claire who is out on holiday. She's had pretty bad jet lag for the last few days so it hasn't been much fun for her so far but she seems to be coming round now and since it's cracking the flags here on the gold coast, even though it's winter time I get the feeling she'll come round in no time.
