Saturday saw an early start as another tour was in order! This time- to Moreton Bay. I get on the bus, there are three none asian people, myself included. My thoughts included- this weekend is gunna be lonely! Turns out, I was being taken to another coach...full of europeans and a guy who went to bristol uni. Much better! The tour guide was really cool, he's an injured professional surfer dude! He also once had a tooth growing out of his foot...i saw the scar! Weird! Anyway.... I conquored my breathing equipment scare and donned a rather fetching snorkel to see some fishies in the big blue sea! It was pretty! I then learned to surf...or tried...It's tiring! Walking to wait deep water carrying a huge surfboard and going against the waves! It was lots of ... read more

Suprisingly for a camp site in a spider's equivalent of Clare in a shoe shop we avoided getting bitten or attacked by the little blighters during the night. Our Tent probably resembled NORAD due to the amount of zips and blockers Clare secured during the course of the evening. We haven't encountered any Red Back Spiders yet - they are proper evil - but we have now seen a Funnel Web (will easily kill you if it bites you), a few Huntsman (big Tarantula's but not too dangerous) and a whole load of Golden Orbs (will do you a bit of damage). The thing is they hang all over the place - and you can easily find yourself walking into a web and shitting yourself for the next 30 seconds. They also seem to like ... read more

Today we set off early from Brisbane for our delayed 2 day trip to Moreton Island. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moreton_Island We were picked up at 7.30 in a good old Toyota Land Cruiser, and were part of a group of 10 spending 2 days on the Island. We have chosen to come to Moreton rather than Fraser Island due to it's proximity to Brisbane. We couldn't be bothered with a 4 hour trip up the coast and our gut feel was that Moreton might be more interesting anyway - less emphasis on the rainforest part of the island and more on the activities. Moreton is second only to Fraser in terms of being the worlds largest sand island. Everything is sand - literally! It therefore gets everywhere! There is only 1 ferry a day serving the island - and ... read more

Hej alle. Vi haaber I nyder at laese lidt om vores oplevelser her i det australske. Vi nyder i hvert fald meget at vaere her. Siden sidst har vi vaeret ved Hervey Bay og set pukkelhvaler. Desvaerre har vi ingen gode billeder af de fantastiske pattedyr, kun video. Men helt fantastisk at se dem.... Stor oplevelse ... read more

Hello all, Today Claire and I went to Manly to see the Halloween parade. There were over 15,000 people all dressed up in all sorts of costumes in the parade. They also had live performances from girl bands and loads of different dance troops. My favorite had to be the crazy little dude who did a ten minute expressive jazz dance dressed as batman. Boy will he regret that when he is older. Anyway it’s a good laugh and probably the best thing to do in and around Brisbane for Halloween so if you’re in the area you should check it out. Love to All Will and Claire ... read more

We'll be flying Air Pacific to Fiji, Canada and Hawaii!!!! There not much left for us to do as this point apart from saving like crazy! All tickets, accomodation and insurance have been paid off and the only things we really need to look into is international drivers licences, baggage restricitons for the flights and in general what we would like to do overseas. The general plan................ Departing BRISvegas airport on the 28th of november. Arrive in fiji and stay for three nights. From here fly to Vancouver, Canada with a short stop only for a few hours in honolulu on the way ... read more

On Wednesday Josh, Sam, and I left Brisbane for the day to go on a tour of Moreton Island. It was amazing. We were the only people booked on the tour so the guide was basically our personal chauffer for the day, brilliant. Moreton Island is the 3rd biggest sand island in the world, and it is pretty spectacular. We started the day off by heading to the dunes and doing some more sand boarding... it was much better than last time, the dunes were bigger, boards were faster and we were allowed to stand up on them as well! We combined with another tour to go down in a pyramid, we got put at the bottom, and basically ate sand all the way down... the tour guides found it hilarious, I looked albino after that ... read more

Hey all! I've been in Brisbane for a few days now. Pretty cool city, not too big considering that it's the third largest city in Australia. They also have a lagoon here on the South Bank which is close to where we're staying ( Somewhere to Stay hostel). Visited a few free museum but mostly took some sun. David-Olivier arrived here yesterdat so we did a barbie to celebrate. Getting ready to leave tomorrow mornign for Surfers Paradise , staying there for 2 ngihts and then going to Byron Bay... The end is near but I'm trying to enjoy every last day I have in this beautiful and perfect country!... read more

Brisbane was where Lorna's parents joined us for a couple of weeks. We spent two days in the city, eating nice meals (only afforded when we are not picking up the bill ourselves) and sightseeing. The boat trip along the river through the city was cool, Brisbane was much nicer than we had imagined. On leaving Brisbane we took a boat over to Tangalooma Wild Dolphin resort, a beautiful beach resort where we fed wild dolphins. It was amazing, each night a group of dolphins, adults and babies, swam into the bay for their meal of fish and for a chance to show off to the spectators. The experience was great. Whilst at the resort we also went quad biking in the sand dunes and we did some snorkelling until it was cut short by a ... read more

After Wednesday's film festival marathon in Brisbane we took a train out to the town of Manly (not to be confused with the beach town of the same name outside Sydney) in Moreton Bay. We had planned to visit St. Helena Island which was the site of an early convict settlement but found that as it's winter, no trip was running on the days we were there. Instead, we considered taking a ferry to Moreton Island but we ruled this out as we were planning to visit Fraser Island further up the coast - both are examples of sand islands but Fraser is largest of this type in the world. By default, we ventured out to North Stradbroke Island via a train ride to Cleveland, the "Gold Cat" ferry and two bus trips. There's an amazing ... read more
