The latest gym we have blagged on a three day pass is uber plush its a fitness first platinum. The running machines and cross trainers have their own mini TV screen in. There is a fitness cinema gym showing films on a big screen that you watch while on exercise bikes. God knows what this place costs. Philip is going to take advantage of the three days here . some one arranges to come and see us tomorrow about taking a permanent membership out. err we live 12000 miles away we have no job and I don’t think we could afford this if we did. but we will have another free orange juice and plump towel while we pretend to be interested. It rains more in Sydney than it does in London! who knew . well ... read more

Circular key and the opera house is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world right up there with time square, Eiffel tower and Niagara falls. This morning it was scene to one of Philips biggest faux pas after loading up on McDonalds pancakes, fruit and too much water he developed a bad stitch early in his run by the time he stumbles into circular key becoming light headed and ultra nausea he cant make it to the public toilet and hurls his breakfast in to the harbour in front of aghast school children and Japanese tourists. he then does his fasted mile ever to get away from scene. If Paula Radcliffe can have stomach troubles while running in public it happens to all the great athletes Philip claims. Things go from bad to ... read more

Andy Warhol once said that everybody would be famous for 15 mins well it looks like Philip just missed his moment in the sun. Last Sunday’s Daily Star did include a piece on Philip , we find out today 6 days after the event! The paper has a few inaccurate which Philip picks up on, he has lost 6 stone not two, he is 38 not 37 that pictures three years old and god knows how we will get a wardrobe home from new York. and unfortunaly we haven’t raised thousands but hopefully that may turn out true. Mean while 12000 miles away we spend the morning at circular quay after the gym watching in awe one of the truly iconic world harbour sights. People commuting to work in the most glorious conditions it really is ... read more

Saturday 27th March 2010 was just over 10 weeks ago on that date Philip went for his first ever run 1.5miles around Delemere Forrest .Today Philip ran the 13 miles a half marathon round Sydney harbor . On his run we see Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden warming up in the botanical gardens. Philip is now claiming he overtook a former world record holder. he was stopped at the time, but Philis's claiming it, at the turn round point in kings cross is a sign pointing the direction to London and telling us it's 17035 km away. for a minute Forrest thinks about running it. He heads back in the hope of heckling Matthew Hayden after he wimped out with a G'day on the way past but he has gone. on arriving back at out training ... read more

SYDNEY 7.-13.5.2010 Sydney on vielä komeampi ja mahtavampi paikka. Kaupunki on kauttaaltaan ultramoderni. Ehkä yksi syy on syvälle kaupunkiin puskeva meri. Trooppinen tuulahdus pehmentää kovaa ilmettä. Ehkä parempi syy on kuitenkin se, että ihmiset ovat täällä ottaneet paik... read more

Sophisticated nights, hanging with the Rosoman’s and the best view in town Well the journey to Sydney took very little time at all in comparison with the trip from Melbourne to Canberra and we’d only just finished our Devonshire cream tea (getting to be quite a habit on these train journeys) before we had pulled up at Sydney central. It looked very much like Victoria or any other big train station and was full of people rushing around. I knew our hostel was near by as it was an old railway platform with carriages on it turned into dorm rooms. I figured with Nath’s love of trains (and my love of train journeys) that it would be an interesting place to stay. We’d booked it through our new “e-nights” scheme (you buy 15 nights accommodation at ... read more

08 04 2010. Woke up to blazing sunshine and decided after breakfast to catch the ferry from McMahon’s point to Darling Bay. The trip was fantastic with a great view of the Harbour and Bay for us to survey and get our bearings; we had no known plans but wanted to stroll around the area as all was new to us. Darling Harbour is the gateway to places of interest, shops, museums, parks and gardens. We decided to go and look around the Chinese Gardens of friendship which happened to have a culture day on with Chinese dancing, marital arts, music and art work. The gardens formed a beautiful relaxing haven from a busy city to relax in and have tea. We enjoyed the company of a dragon lizard that was quite content shading from the ... read more

I wake at 3 am, the room is shaking, there's an odd creaking and moaning and some loud banging, where am I? Oh my god it's an earthquake, i'm on the 11th floor I've had it, what do I do, hold on nothings falling around my ears, nobody else is moving. What's going on?  It's the wind, which is back with a vengeance, our windows are open and it's howling in. It's so strong the building is shaking, panic over. It carries on all night, dropping just long enough for you to fall asleep in the calm, quiet lull.  I sleep late and have to rush to meet my check out time. Outside looks like a small hurricane, things are blowing down the street, it's raining in that blown by the wind horizontal way and people ... read more

4th March - 11th March Sydney & Blue mountains Flew into Sydney from Hamilton Island at 17:00 - Rush Hour!!! Friday started fine, down to Opera house and got acquainted with ferry timetables and general area. Started to rain afternoon and well into evening. So, Anzac memorial, down to Chinatown where LJ spotted the monorail. Bought day pass which took us to Darling Harbour for lunch. Onward to Chinese Gardens - a couple of hours of quiet (nearly) in the city, back to Darling and then the ferry back to Circular Quay. Sunday, another sunny, hot day. ... read more
