17-12-7 rise to sound of honking. yet going shoping the streets seem wider, cleaner. al eid in two days some effort has been made to sweep the streets and i'm three weeks later less appalled by the traffic and pollution, a breeze had reduced it. i knew cab fare and bargained with shopowners. when we did pay overmuch i took it with a hard-earned serenity. kate wanted to eat in our old neighborhood falafel stop. walking back to hotel a bull with feet tied lying in entry to clothes store. just at that moment its throat was slit, blood gushed red. fasting then feasting. allah akbar! 18-12-7 transit. a day of boring holes in the atmosphere. five hours in frankfurt then over an endless quilt of white, pristine pure cloud as we followed the sun west ... read more

So we left Bondi Beach early in the morning and had to go back into Sydney. After reading Lonely Planet on the way back in we deceided to take a chance with a random location. Like I said before we only had one thing planned and that was to stay south. So we read up on what was south of Sydney. We had a couple of choices Wollongong which is a big city again but with beach life, Nowra, Shell Harbour a popular holiday town, and Kiama "a pretty town with good beaches". So with out knowing more than that we jumped on the train again and headed to Kiama, all we were really hoping for was something small and quiet where we could get a good nights sleep. As we sat on the train we ... read more

Last weekend was Deanne's Birthday and to celebrate we went to Surf Camp. We spent the weekend surfing and hanging out with surfer people. The pictures speak for themselves. I would defenitly recomend going to Surf Camp for anyone wanting to learn. Just be careful not to run over or be run over with the amount of people in the water.... read more

Some friends (and work colleagues) were visiting from London, so we took a day trip to the south coast - in search of some sea, surf and a kangaroo sighting. We'd heard that Pebbly Beach was a good place to see them (although we've been there before, and didn't see any that time, so were careful to manage expectations). We arrived and laid out our picnic, only to be 'be-friended' by two rather scary looking kanagroos! They're vicious looking up close - and one seemed to delight in flexing his (long) claws. After they'd helped themselves to a sandwich we retreated in haste - although not before Simon was engaged in a boxing match with one of them who was determined that we hand over our bag of crisps too! ... read more

Wedding Australasia » Australia » New South Wales » South Coast By Addy and JaneMarch 17th 2007Adam and JaneSo we thought that the wedding would be a good place to start the travel blog as we did technically travel to Berry for the occasion. Adam and I had a great day and everything went off without a hitch (no pun intended). Even the rain was fitting given that we will be soon living in London and we did get married on St Paddys day. We did hear some stories from the after party at the Berry Hotel and then the "Hubcap" and it sounded like a lot of fu... read more

Day 5 of Roadtrip: Berry - Kiama Left the Drawing Rooms just before lunch time, but not before making a food-refuel stop in Berry at the Emporium. The Emporium is owned by a French ex-pat that has the most delightful accent; une mélange de français et Oz. Very bizarre but discernable. Once again, I ordered the old reliable - BLAT and a cappuccino. To accompany this, I went for the gusto (hey, I'm on vacay!) and had a chickpea salad. And I must say, it's one of the best chickpea salads I've ever had! But then again, everything always tastes better when someone else makes it for you. The flavours burst on my palate... everything was so fresh. YUMMMMMMM... Also located in Berry is Nelson's. Nelson's is a butcher shop with a big sign proclaiming ... read more

Day 4 of Roadtrip: Berry - Ulladulla A lovely breakfast awaited us when we got up this morning courtesy of our lovely hosts. Kerry & Adrian Turnbull are the current owners of the Drawing Rooms, but it's up for sale. This little gem could be all yours for a measly 2.98 million. Any takers? Today we decided to go to the hobby farm that Dave's dad owns. It's in Ulladulla (uh-la-duh-la) and is about a 1.5 hr. drive from Berry. No, I didn't drive. I don't understand the roundabouts. They're double-laned and I get confused as to who has the right of way in what lane. No thanks! The farm is located in Meroo National Park, down a steep, gravelly road. In its heyday, it boasted a vineyard, some cows, a little forest, and a ... read more
