17-12-7 rise to sound of honking. yet going shoping the streets seem wider, cleaner. al eid in two days some effort has been made to sweep the streets and i'm three weeks later less appalled by the traffic and pollution, a breeze had reduced it. i knew cab fare and bargained with shopowners. when we did pay overmuch i took it with a hard-earned serenity. kate wanted to eat in our old neighborhood falafel stop. walking back to hotel a bull with feet tied lying in entry to clothes store. just at that moment its throat was slit, blood gushed red. fasting then feasting. allah akbar!
18-12-7 transit. a day of boring holes in the atmosphere. five hours in frankfurt then over an endless quilt of white, pristine pure cloud as we followed the sun west past ireland, on and on brushing greenland then massachusetts, marblehead, nahant and boston running down the american east coast to sunny florida.
19-12-7 clean to the point of sterility, perked coffee, cereal, total relaxation
20-12-7 family in florida
21-12-7 kate's grandfather dies in perth. she's crying.
22-12-7 mom's 90th birthday do. 33 in attendance. christmas, tennis, swimming, food food food, shuffleboard, warm weather, warm feelings. sharing caring. great flock of florida eagles circling. grapefruit from george's backyard. games toys. telling tales, catching up, creating memories.
29-12-7 boston for four days of winter. 'good' weather. average age seems intwenties.
1-1-8 davis square and memories for me, i lived in boston ten years. kate in her element as we meet many who know her.
2-1-8 new year and transiting i have a twelve hour layover in LA. took bus for 50c ten miles to manhattan beach where i lunched and read at pub kate and i visited in early nineties. warm and sunny.
