Arrived quite late last night after another run-in with United Airlines - remind me never ever to fly with them ever again! Well we thought things weren’t too bad only a 90 minute delay, then we discovered we had to fly via Denver, wait there for an hour pick up new passengers and then head off to the Sin City. In Denver there was a lot of pandemonium as loads of passengers missed their connecting flights, or were in a rush; still not a problem for us or so we thought. I began to get a bit worried when we were the only people left on the flight, surely somebody else was going to Vegas? I thought it was best to check with the last remaining trolley dolly, good job too as the new boarding passengers ... read more

The last entry was nearly ten days ago. I was sitting in the houseboat, staring at all the Stuff, procrastinating, wondering what I should take, what I could live without... The trip to Kentucky was pretty much uneventful, and the flight to Chicago went well. My guitar was lost, found and returned within 24 hours, none the worse for the wear. So far so good... almost. My laptop, the one I just spent money to give a new keyboard, battery pack & power supply, has decided it will not switch over to battery power, essentially rendering it a small desktop machine. If I can't use it as a laptop, its use to me is greatly diminished while traveling. Less than 7 hours away from the time that I'm to leave for the airport on the trans-Atlantic ... read more

I survived the first flight on the first part of my journey. Not hard to do since i have done it a thousand times, had the whole row of seats to myself and had a cadillac margarita prior to going to the airport. After spending a weekend in Sacramento, getting home late Sunday night, I stayed up most of the night and spent the morning packing to be completed by 11am!! not so bad! got lots of errands done and had enough time for a yummy Mexican dinner (thinking Mexican food in India isn't going to be so great!!) saying goodbye to everyone was super sad but i think denial is the way to go--just going home for a few weeks, right? Arrived in Jersey at 6am Tuesday morning and had a bagel party at my ... read more

Hope y'all are not getting to bored with our travels... Christmas Day started with breakfast prepared by Charles while we waited for Keif, one of Jan and Charles's grand children, to get up to "find" his presents under the tree. Keif was very excited about his race car track and mobile phone. We were a bit embarassed as Robert had told us that there was no gift giving only "Bad santa" which I will explain later for those of you who are thinking "what the..??" but as you saw in the earlier photos of Charles' attempt at wrapping, there were gifts to be opened.... Eventually when everyone arrived and the table laden with food, honey ham, broccoli rice & cheese (yummy), creamy mashed potato, brownies, a fantastic lemon cheese cake, and much much more, was devoured ... read more

Resigned to a quiet and solitary Christmas Day, I went to the only place in Abbeville I was I could get a meal. All the restaurants, even the fast food outlets, are closed; Abbeville hasn’t enough traffic to merit anything else open but the convenience store at the Valero gas station. Undaunted, I bought some coffee and a pre-packaged three-day old sandwich. I carried it over to the counter by the front window to enjoy my Holiday breakfast. On the third bite, someone inserted his hand in front of my face, between my mouth and my meal. “How ya doin’! Merry Christmas!” a voice called out. What I would normally consider a hostile act, getting between me and my food, I realized was an overt gesture of courtesy. I briskly brushed the crumbs off my lap, ... read more

I got told I had to use up some annual leave at work or lose it, fantastic, time off work the only question where to go, the dollar was weak and I needed to buy my girlfriend an engagement ring and I’ve always wanted to go to New York, so it was a simple choice, we flew out on xmas day, which made it a lot cheaper. When we landed in New York we took a cab to our hotel, when we arrived on the street we started counting up the numbers......oh wait where is our hotel, there was just a big construction site where our hotel was supposed to be, maybe we have the wrong number, nope right number, oh no. It wasn’t as bad as we first thought, yes it was a construction site ... read more

The Journey of 2007 has been filled with many moments and many memories. What most stands out in my mind is the provision of the Lord...meeting all of our needs and some of our wants. During this Christmas we are reminded of His provision of Life through His Son. What else could we want? As humans...we want a lot. Yet, we can rest assured that we have all we need in Him. He is an unending source of dynamic love, power, gentleness, provision, grace, joy and more. His supply never runs dry and He is available to water our thirsty souls with all He is. It just takes a little time on our part to get to know Him better. Thanks to all who have helped us help the orphans and the needy over this last ... read more

Miamin lentokentalle siirryin taas kerran taksilla ja kentan ovesta sisaan mentyani aloin tahyilemaan oikeaa check-in tiskia. Lahimpana sijainneella oli lyhyin jono enka antanut lahistolla olleen "first class" kyltin hairita vaan menin nayttamaan lippuani tiskien luona paivystaneelle henkilokunnan edustajalle. Tieda sitten katsoiko han edes lippua mutta yllatyksekseni han kehotti minua menemaan lyhyen jonon jatkoksi. Check in lennolle siis suoritettu hyvin nopeasti ja turvatarkastuksesta lapi mentyani sain taas kerran todeta lennon olevan jonkin verran myohassa. Matkatavaroiden odottelu Vegasin kentalla kesti varsin pitkaan mutta aikaa olisi voinut tappaa samantien yksikatisten rosvojen parissa, melko pitkat rivit koneita loytyi samantien matkatavarahihnojen luota. Vihdoin paasin kuitenkin liikkeelle noutamaan vuokra-autoa ja talla kertaa olin laittanut varaukseen full size kokoluoluoka... read more

Historic route 66 We flew in to Las Vegas on 24th December and after a night's stop we drove across the Hoover Dam, stopping briefly to have a look at the 70 year old, 1200 ft long massive construction that stands tall across the Colorado river. We decided to skip the Valley of Fire because the park was closed on account of Christmas, promising ourselves that we would return a day sooner to visit it. But, no promise is worth keeping, unless there's money or food involved, so we went to the chocolate factory on the last day! But keeping things more chronological, we drove away from the dam stopping at a scenic view overlooking Lake Mead. We took the I-40 to Flagstaff, Arizona, our first destination. Driving along the interstate is more efficient but we ... read more
