Today we are getting ready for Seth, Vivian, and ROWAN to get here! They'll arrive this evening. We can't wait. We went into town to do our laundry. Then we went to get some mail that Jodie had sent General Delivery for us. It included my first retirement check! YAY! Then we snuck in a little leaf peeping in a different direction. We traveled a little North and discovered Robert Frost's Stone House Museum. We enjoyed being there where he wrote some of his most famous poetry. Then we found out that Norman Rockwell lived and worked in the next town, [View Full Entry]

We took off early to go "leaf peeping". We headed East on Highway 9 over to Keene, New Hampshire. It's only about 40 miles across the bottom of the Vee of Vermont. That's how I remember which state is Vermont and which is New Hampshire, Vermont is shaped like a Vee. The colors were fabulous. Around each corner, there were more oohs and aahs. Rich, a person who is color-blind, said, "I've never seen such vivid colors!" That made the whole trip worth it. We are just so impressed and so glad we decided to do this. We read that Vermont's [View Full Entry]

Green Mountains

We're in Vermont! We slept in and went out to explore after noon. Crops here are sunflowers, pumpkins, and corn, corn, corn. There are many houses here with slate roofs. The town of Bennington is nice and friendly. We were told that the leaves have not "peaked", yet. They still have a few more days to go to be the best color. As we drove out of town toward the Green Mountains, we noticed that every dealership had some kind of snowplows for sale. Higher in the mountains, some trees had already lost their leaves, but most were radiant. We passed [View Full Entry]

Well, here I am, sitting at my kitchen table, awaiting the spring when finally, finally, I will be able to skip off into the freedom of life where I can finally experience all I've been taught and learn my lessons again in an active, adapted fashion. It is so hard to sit and wait, being held back by commitments, though I love to be learning and engaged in education; but how I yearn to be out on the road with my destiny bringing life to the lines on the palms of my hands. I plan, I anticipate, I wait. Oh, the [View Full Entry]

After 50 years, my Aunt and Uncle were selling their home in Vermont and moving to North Carolina (of all places) in order to live near my cousin. I actually lived here as a todler, but I hadn't been back since high school. I'm pretty happy to report that Vermont remains beautiful and idyllic. Mom and I flew into Boston Logan, then were supposed to transfer onto a Cape Air puddle jumper to Rutland. Unfortunately, there was a big ass storm and FORTUNATELY due to said big ass storm, they cancelled our flight. So we took a bus from the airport [View Full Entry]

So I travelled on a greyhound bus, and I didn't get beheaded which was a bonus. The bus rolled through Maine, Massachusetts through some beautiful tree filled towns at dusk where artists should be walking down streets. Springfield Massachusetts was interesting. If my phone was working I would have text my sister to tell her that I was in the Dandenong of America, here is where plump American bogans in cheap tacky clothes smoked and smooched and swore at each other, a young man spoke yo diggity to himself while chewing on a toothbrush. Luckily I have spent many an hour/day/night [View Full Entry]

Greetings from home, Travel season is under way, and I will be on the road as of September 11th, 2008. It's probably not the most festive time to begin a two-month long adventure through Western NY (Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester), Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Regardless, there's only 150 High Schools, and 20 College Fairs between me and November 15th.
On pourrait y passer plusieurs semaines. On comprend pourquoi ce plan d'eau est si populaire. [View Full Entry]

JEEP
JEEP
Our new orange Jeep.
We travelled from Boston to Woodstock Vermont today. It took about 3 hours in our new Orange Jeep. The sat-nav was a great help as usual. Arrived at The Woodstock Inn & Resort at about 3pm just as a wedding was about to take place on the front lawn. Ahhh. We then went for a walk around town, its so different from the city- a bit like Greyabbey, with more class. Its full of little shops to stroll around and buy nothing, has the odd coffee shop and only the one restaurant. They also show the odd film in the Town [View Full Entry]

Quechee Gorge
Quechee Gorge
Rock pools at the bottom of the gorge.
We got up early this morning and had breakfast in the hotel. Our first stop was Quechee Gorge about 7 miles down the road. Here they call it the "little grand canyon". It was a short walk down to the bottom of the gorge where you could swim in the rock pools. Then you walk about a mile up to the other end where a dam has been built- its also has a bridge over it half way up so you can get a great view. Its was pleasant Sunday morning walk in the sun. Our next stop was Simon Pearce [View Full Entry]
