We love Savannah. What a beautiful city everywhere you go. There is an old charm. The streets are line with charming historic (and haunted) homes dotted with little restaurants that surround the many squares throughout the city. Our trip started off perfectly! We left Lake Wylie today at 10:30am. Mark already had the RV ready - including a good wash so it looked perfect. We traded my car in for a 2012 CRV to tow 4-down! It was wonderful to just hookup and go... we should have done this a long time ago (thank you Robert for working with us to make this happen). Traffic was perfect - all the heavy traffic was going the other direction! We went through Atlanta with no trouble - I didn’t even panic! We arrived in Gaffney SC a couple days early for our 18-19 Jan service at Oasis Freightliner Custom Chassis Service Center. It is critical we get Camp Boss serviced before we embark on our cross continent journey, so we wanted to take no chances of being late. Well it's a good thing we showed up early, because we timed our arrival with an unexpected snow storm. We were going to stay a couple days in the very nice Spartanburg/Gaffney KOA, but nature had its own plans. So we showered and caught up on laundry at the KOA, then got up early on the 17th to move into the Oasis FCC maintenance lot a day early. This cross country road trip is a 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration, so we would be remiss if we did not return to our honeymoon spot, Charleston SC. In 1978 it was August, so you can imagine the temperature outside, but we were young and high 90s-high humidity was fine. It was a little different on this trip...to say the least. The first couple days we were there the weather was cool, but sunny. Perfect weather for walking around and viewing the battery area historic homes, exactly as we remembered them. What wonderful memories! We had a great time, testing out some wonderful restaurants and seeing the old sites.
