The question: how do you spice the familiar has to with travel in your own back yard. I think I may have gotton spoiled being over seas so long and getting to travel around different places around the world. I know that the United States has a lot to offer, and a lot I haven't seen, but I just can't seem to get motivated to go see it. What makes the difference in international travel verses national travel, is it just a state of Mind or what? I've got to get moving! What about you! ... read more

I just wanted to let everyone know I made it back safe and sound! I had a really good flight and made it into Tulsa about 10:10 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17th. It was a quick trip and I am still trying to get over my jet lag but it improves daily. Thanks again for all who supported my endeavor in finances, prayers, and encouragement. I have many memories and lots of stories. I will never forget my time in Moscow!... read more

Current State We are actually in Alamogordo, NM tonight (day 25) where we have finally caught up with some very sunny, warm weather. We have made the turn toward home though it will take us another 8-10 days to get there. We're heading to Roswell, NM tomorrow and assuming we aren't abducted by aliens there, will continue on to stop and see family and friends along the way home. Now, here's turning the pages back to Day 7... Day 7, Friday, November 14th - Tulsa, OK to Clinton, OK What a day!! 22 towns of varying sizes, all with unique features. Even Further Behind Here we are, actually on day 22 and we're still trying to post for days 4-6. We're going to forego much verbiage and let the pictures give a clue of what we've done in order to try and make some progress on postings. Who knows if we'll ever succeed at catching up. Obviously, our priority is enjoying our time so guess you'll all just have to understand (or not) We'll be in Sedona, AR for Thanksgiving. Now, going back to days 4-6. Day 4 - Tuesday, November 11th - St. Louis, MO An absolute highlight day of our trip. We had lunch with Aunt Rose (Rita's dad's sister), and cousins Jan and June. It was a treat to catch up with the families. Aunt Rose and Jan had been in Milwaukee a couple ... read more

deep in the heart of Texas!!! Although I am not in Texas anymore...nor New Mexico for that matter...I still have the lonestar state on the brain! Yesterday was a tough day because I was in a lousy mood. I have not been sleeping well on the road and its starting to catch up to me. I am sure my parents are feeling the wrath of Mary as well. It seems nobody benefits when I am overtired! We left the Verde Valley in Arizona early yesterday after a stop at Randall's. Its a little mom and pop breakfast place that locals frequent. That was pretty apparent because as soon as we walked in everyone turned to stare at us. They soon grew tired of the "newcomers" and went about their business as we grabbed some coffee and ... read more

So many people have written and asked to see pictures of the kids since we've returned to the states... They are all doing great in school. Brent is serving as the Family Minister at the church in Sayre, Oklahoma where we are living now, and I have opened my own Photography Studio.... Emily & Garrett both made the honor roll with their first report card of the school year in 6th and 4th grade, Gracie doesnt get grades just yet this first semester of 1st grade.... and they are all loving life in Oklahoma, meeting new friends in school and bonding with our church family. Playing sports and raising pigs to show once again in the 4H program. Pictures always say so much more than words ever can! Here they are! Julie... read more

Tunika MS is the first destination west. Kathy has been saving quarters for as long as it takes to accumulate $150. Poor Debbie has allocated $20.00 to lose for the sake of fun. I-20 West to 78 west to the I-22 corridor outside Birmingham was the first leg of our path. A word of advise from the best navigator that Kathy has ever had the pleasure of driving with…..don’t take the first 78 west exit that you run into…..it starts out as a lovely road and ends up 2 hours later winding through places you do not want to be. The 8 hour trip to Tunika has now turned into 10. Back to the first night that was to fund the rest of our trip……Kathy goes to put quarters in the slot machine only to find ... read more

Hello All! It's been a while since I last updated everyone on my status. I have finally received my VISA from the Russian Consulate and things are in order as far as the government is concerned for my arrival in Moscow. I received word from the Moses' (resident Missionaries) this weekend that their VISA's have been denied and they will be returning to the states in December. I feel even greater urgency to go since God has allowed me to received access to Russia via my student VISA. He told me that there will be four of us (AIMers) in Moscow and the local pastor and his wife. Other than that there are no resident missionaries in this massive country. I know God has a plan and I am trying to let Him lead me as ... read more

Thrifty Travel Tip #4: Don't pay to take a toll road. It's bullsh*t to pay for an interstate when you can use a road that follows alongside it for free, minus the trucks and heavy traffic, and, with a prettier view of the countryside. It'll also save you about $10-20, depending where you are. Buenos Dias and Good Morning from New Mexico. We woke up early this morning (me before Dustin at 7:30 AM, him by 9 AM,) and had the pleasure of taking hot showers in Ree's beautiful guest house. Dustin went out to the car to get towels and some fresh clothes; when he came back in I told him I was going out to get a few things. He informed me that the gate was stuck and he had to squeeze through this ... read more
