Last night we made it to Rose State College, east of Okalahoma City. I met Brian at the Professional Training Center at 6:00 PM. Thankfully he was working late that night. We discussed Boston Reed programs for an hour while Terry and Graycee relaxed in some more shade - 103 degrees. Rose State is VERY interested in several courses and we will have our first partner in Oklahoma!! This year I also brought New Hampshire on board. I love it when we get new states! Our challenge is trying to eat healthy. With a dog in the car - everything is drive up fast food. We stop at grocery stores for deli meats and fruit and try to avoid french fries. Think I'll try a salad at McDonalds. I discovered that I left my makeup at ... read more

Living in United States, we rarely think about other countries and cultures. I attend the University of Central Oklahoma where we have a heavy international student body. So many international students have visited the U.S. and have experienced our culture but it wasn't until I took a trip to the beautiful city of Swansea that I developed an apprecitation for other cultures. I visited Swansea over spring break with some classmates from the Mass Communication Department at UCO to make videos and brochures for a couple of non profit organizations through Swansea University. I recently went to New York City with UCO several months before going to Swansea. I didn't plan on going to Swansea for the simple fact that I went to NYC the semester before but I want to deeply thank my classmates ... read more

We were driving on route 40 out of Memphis, TN by 9:15am. And that was AFTER showering and breaky. We drove into Arkansas in no time--and it was FLAT. With the rain still falling, it was also flooded in areas. As we neared Ft. Smith small mountains and rolling hills could be seen. They weren't as stately as the Smoky Mother Mountains but they were a welcome diversion from FLAT. I sold one of my books at a gas station along the way. I met a really nice lady who is working two jobs, on her 2nd divorce and has had her own trials and tribulations. We motored into Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Homer screaming at us to turn around. I'm not sure where he wanted to take us, but we followed the directions of the ... read more

Hello all! This is my first post of our "Media Production Tour" of Wales! I, and several other students from the University of Central Oklahoma are heading overseas to the UK to produce an informational video as well as create a facebook page and brochures for two nonprofit organizations in Swansea! For me this is the trip of a life time! I have never been out of the country before, and when my professor mentioned this trip to me back in the fall I knew I had to go! I have always wanted to visit England, Scotland, Ireland & Wales and now I actually am GOING! I still can't believe it. . My father's side of the family is Scots Irish, so getting to be this close to my ancestor's homeland is pretty amazing. I would ... read more

The Jitters Well, I'm doing my last load of laundry, nervous, anxious, excited. I'm not looking forward to the 24 hour travel time ahead of me. Luckly, a dear friend of mine hooked me up with a few Ambien to easy the pain. My goal is to try to update daily with uncensored, unsugar-coated travel experiences. Comments and encouragements are greatly appreciated. Love to all, Amy... read more

Day 2: Traveled from St. Louis to Oklahoma City, OK. After staying last night nearly 'under' the Arch we trekked about 500 miles, today. We have entertained ourselves pretty well, no boredom or car/cabin fever! The only time we've gotten on each others nerves was at our Starbucks pit stop, this morning. Brian cranked out his very best hillbilly "I'd like a venni Americani Grande, please' impression. This was pretty embarrassing but he made up for it with a brief, 'I met my wife at Starbucks' conversation that the barista seemed to thoroughly enjoy. HA! Caffeination in tow, we pulled out a few tricks from our normal road trip bag for entertainment... such as 'meowing' a couple songs (Adam Lambert, is such an easy target) and personifying the cats (who are staying with my folks until ... read more

New York City is a one of a kind place. So many times you see movies and television shows that take place there and I see the millions of people constantly walking the sidewalks and I always wondered if it's really like that in real life or is it slightly exaggerated for TV. I finally got to see for myself and it was mind blowing. It really does take a while to soak in just how big the buildings are and how many people are around you. First and foremost you have to be aggressive to make it here. Not in the form of being disrespectful but you have to stand your ground if you want to get by. The sidewalks are really packed, its not exaggerated what so ever. Vendors and shop owners can ... read more

We woke up late, had a nice breakfast. Our waitress was cute but curt, so I didn't think everyone was pleased. Later, we roamed around the place and checked out their facilities. At the concierge, we inquired about the things one could do around the place. Also, since it was Thanksgiving, there were many people around. The hotel had arranged for a Red Indian tribe to perform song and dance and talk about their culture. We checked out at noon and headed towards Santa Fe. It was similar to Old Town but bigger, and we looked for an authentic Mexican place to get some lunch. La Fonda had a nice buffet, and we enjoyed the meal. We roamed on the streets, clicked a few pictures, and also found bandannas to wear that made us look like ... read more

Winter in Oklahoma can be a blissful one, but when ice fell on the great state, the results were horrific and costly. In 2007 Oklahoma experienced its worse ever ice storm when an inch of ice fell on the state causing major power outages in all 77 counties. Residents were without electricity for hours, and in some locations--months! Trees and branches were burdened with the weight of the ice as many drooped so low that their branches reached street level. Greece is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
