We are continuously trying to advance after taking note that more than 1700 miles are still left. Avoided stopping in New Mexico for a stay to heat index and fire. Arrived in Amarillo, TX with our sights on eating a large piece of steak but gave it up after noticing that local city streets are hard to maneuver around and that our expected seating time was nearly into the following day after having arrived at 10 a.m. Crossed into Oklahoma and also better weather. At least until we arrived in Elk City. We were quite some distance away from our destination in OKC so the locals suggested plugging into the free power outlets found throughout the I-40 in overflow casino or city parking lots. Incredible day. The Grand Canyon is just too big to really comprehend what we are looking at. Viewed from the South Rim on Rim trail from above. You almost want to reach out and touch its grandeur but it is impossible due to safety. I will be posting photos shortly.... read more

Left Las Vegas at 4:30 a.m. after a three hour prep drill. Arrived in Williams, AZ at noon. Reserved a camp site in KOA Circle pines just 56 miles from the Grand Canyon. Site looks well. Time to sleep now after driving 230 miles.... read more
