Well, nothing too exciting to report, but I made it to JFK...only 18 more hours until I land in Hong Kong! I am in business class which is cool, and as a perk get to use the BA lounge...it is so cool it even has a waterfall! Free food, drink, internet, "relaxation stations" and a pre-flight "supper". Here is a picture of the little home I have made for myself in a corner. ... read more

Dear TravelBlog forgive me for I have sinned. It has been two months since my last entry. I am now out on Long Island enjoying another summer vacation spent by the beach. It has been a little less relaxing then usual with my impending move to Japan getting ever closer, complete with Japanese lessons, and getting myself a clean bill of health before I go. However, once you get out here it is impossible not to get in a relaxed state of mind. The air here is just different. I smell the familiar scents, which is a combination of sea air and woodland sanctuary. It's like I tap into the relaxation from all the past summers. I had wanted to take some pictures at the beach when the sun was shining since I arrived here on ... read more

I am home. Thanks for all your support and comments. Will finish off the blog in the next day or two. Aloha. Tom After almost a week home I ma ready to go again...haha. I have compiled pictures and have burned them on to a DVD. I can make copies for anyone who may be interested. If so drop me a note with you address. It takes a while to do each one so if you really don't think you will view it don't have me do it! I hope you enjoyed my little trip. Suggestions on next would be appreciated. We arrived in New York late on Friday night from Barbados. We were a bit worried about the weather as it has been raining quite a bit over the past few weeks, but it has been all sunshine since we have been here bar one day where it rained for about an hour. We are staying with my Uncle in Valley Stream who has kindly put us up and is our tour guide to New York. I have just realised that this the place I have visited the most in my life, I have been here 4 times now! On Saturday we relaxed during the day and in the evening we went into Manhattan. Saw Madison Sq Gardens, Times Square, Broadway and went for dinner in an Irish Pub called O'Neils. We didn't get back home ... read more

i made it! despite spraining my ankle 24hrs b4 i was due to leave my house, a quick trip to casualty, a pair of crutches, many tears and a few packs of frozen peas later... i am at Tara's house in Bethpage, Long Island chilling out instead of doing a crazy tourist dash around NYC. suits me just fine. there is a pool, i am being pampered... nuff said. 1st impressions of los Estados Unidos are that 1. it really is the land of the large. to be fair, haven't seen many fatties but the cars are HUGE, the food is all obese size.... 2. well haven't got out much yet due to a blueberry coloured fat foot.... read more

Still have 3+ hours of a 5 hour layover at JFK. You cash in miles for a first class ticket, you have a full days pass to the Admirals Club, and flying still sucks. The monkey seems to enjoy travel, though I don't think he was too happy when I left him in the coat closet of the JFK flight, and a flight attendant dumped her flight case on him. If we had an unlimited amount of time, I guess we could have gone Amtrak. Down to 2 hours before the D.C. flight. I'm in terminal 9 at JFK. So new it's still under construction Should probably eat before the flight. Hmm, what are the chances of finding some good food in an airport? Did I mention first class sucks? The meal was a turkey and ... read more

Today my family and I left our town of Ft. Myers to fly to New York. New York is just a pit stop until our major flight tomorrow for Hong Kong. My parents originally came to New York when they first immigrated to the US so we have a good amount of family living on Long Island. Our flight left at 11:00 am and we arrived at 1:45 pm. I hate small planes. I really do, they freak me out. This plane was pretty small but not too bad. Luckily, the weather was perfect so the flight was completely smooth. Plus, my mom brought drugs. My mom has two sisters and a brother. My favorite is the younger sister since she was young and hip and I looked up to her. She's not so young anymore ... read more

well the trip over was fun. normal flights to minneapolis and then to jfk. when we got to jfk, greg and the older kids of his were gonna meet us and we were gonna go look at st. john's campus and go to eat. so mom and i arrive, in good spirits and happy to be off a crowded plane. we didn't really know where we were going, except out ot meet greg, and so we called him. he told us to meet him in front of the northwest departures area. so i figure jfk is like the other airports i traveled from, with one dedicated international terminal. so mom and i hop on the train to find the other terminals. once on the train, i find a map, and it says that we were just ... read more

We went to NYC on the way back from Miami cos we were going to see Coldplay and Richard Ashcroft on the Sunday night. The first two nights we stayed in a hostel on the upper west side in a tiny 10 person room, which was certainly an experience. Saturday night we went and had dinner with Tom (Austria) and Caitlin at Caitlin's place in Harlem. There was a really nice view over the west river of the George Washington Bridge. For the next 2 nights we stayed with Chip on the upper east side which was great, it was really cool to see him again. Sunday night we got on the train(s) out to long island to the Nassau Memorial Coliseum to see the show. It was amazing, we had really good seats as well. ... read more
