So the adventure is now over, I am back in the comfort of my own home. My mum has decorated my room and has made room for all the boxes I have sent back. Time has really flown by this past 6 months, I can't believe half a year has passed and I have been the whole way around the world! People keep on asking me the same questions so I'm gonna break it down for ya'll. We arrived in New York late on Friday night from Barbados. We were a bit worried about the weather as it has been raining quite a bit over the past few weeks, but it has been all sunshine since we have been here bar one day where it rained for about an hour. We are staying with my Uncle in Valley Stream who has kindly put us up and is our tour guide to New York. I have just realised that this the place I have visited the most in my life, I have been here 4 times now! On Saturday we relaxed during the day and in the evening we went into Manhattan. Saw Madison Sq Gardens, Times Square, Broadway and went for dinner in an Irish Pub called O'Neils. We didn't get back home ... read more

Barbados, what can I say! We stayed in St Lawrence Gap at ' Time Out' for 7 days. The hotel was across the road from Dover beach, a beautiful beach, the clubs and bars were in walking distance and Oistins was down the road. Oistins is the place to be on a Friday night, fresh fish, music and some dancing. It was a really nice atmosphere, but what struck us us immediately was that there was soo many tourists- throughout our stay there we discovered that the majority of them were British! Very unlike St Lucia, where we only bumped into 3 British tourists for the whole time we were there! Our hotel was ok, a bit pricy for what it was esp compared to St Lucia, the staff were either not very friendly or over ... read more

St Lucia is not soo sunny at the moment, we have just entered into the hurricane season so the the weather is neither here nor there. We arrived in St Lucia on the 15th June, after a very long night at Miami airport- I felt like I needed a trip to the Chiropractor after sleeping on some very hard chairs that night! When we arrived in St Lucia it was so humid I thought a storm was about to start, as we are staying near Castries and we landed at the other airport at the other end of the island we had to get a taxi up here, it cost 160 EC, about 36 pounds, which was pretty expensive, but as we were soon to learn, everything is expensive for tourists in St Lucia! We have ... read more

All the students from the states were there with us in Cancun- it was heaving and Kay and I felt like right oldies as we partied alongside them- they have soo much energy! During our time in Cancun we sampled pretty much all of the local cuisine, all of it delicious! We sunbathed at a few hotels (illegally) as we weren't really meant to be using the facilities unless we were paying guests- ah well! Our hotel was nice we stayed in downtown Cancun, despite the connotations of 'downtown', Hotel Margarita's was lovely, really clean, and a central location- we had to get the bus into central Cancun, it was 6.50 pesos, about 40 pence! Food was soo cheap- very dangerous for the two of us as we just wanted to sample everything! As for the ... read more

After 3 hectic days in Miami, with about 10hrs sleep we arrived in Cancun, in the boiling hot sun. We are staying in downtown Cancun, not in the very expensive hotel zone and the hotel we are staying is really nice, not plush like the Luxor but it comes close. We haven't really done anything since we got here. Went out last night to Coco Bongo's and had a fantastic time, although it started to get a bit cheesy towards the end, it was a good laugh. In our few days in Miami we went to Nikki's beach, ate at the News Cafe, thanks to Don, and partied till 5am at Opium with Fabulous and Sean Paul! Miami is a very strange place, it seemed as though we had been there for a month, the amount ... read more

Arrived in Miami early this morning after a 5hr flight from Las Vegas. Our first American Airline flight and so far not impressed at all, especially after being spoilt by Cathay and Qantas, as well, at least we only have short haul flights with them! We are staying a few blocks away from the beach. Our hostel is not what we expected, we are considering moving, but everything is such a hassle over here without a car. It took us 2 hours today to make it from the airport to the hostel on the bus! But we have already seen some of the day life in Miami, we popped into Nikki's beach, on the beach to have look at a daytime party. It is a house weekender at Nikki's and it was like a scene out ... read more

After a disillusioning start to the USA leg of our trip, Las Vegas was a very pleasant surprise. For those of you that know me, I am not a gambler, the most I bet is with Monopoly money, so to be honest I didn’t really see what all the fuss was about with a whole street lined with Casino’s waiting to take your money from you. Well, Vegas doesn’t only have casinos, it has a wicked nightlife, great shops (that you could afford to browse in- not buy), a great selection of spa’s, ‘The Drive’ ( I will explain later), plus so much more, it really has something for everyone. So after spending months in hostels and looking forward to having our very own room, with a double bed, own bathroom and a TV the last ... read more

We arrived in San Francisco from LA after spending the whole day on a bus! We are used to that now, so it's no big deal. First impressions of San Francisco, not as glitzy as LA but then not as bad as some of the less impressive areas. The greyhound station, however, was not in a very savoury part of town. San Francisco was a bit of a blur to be honest; it came and went so quickly. We did a whole day walking tour of the district, which took all of 4.5 hours, the next day we couldn't walk! We saw all of the must see sights, the Golden Gate Bridge, the street with the most angles in the world and, of course, Alcatraz. All very interesting but to be honest, we are soo exhausted ... read more

(On the pavement that is!) We arrived in LA on Sunday morning, it was like groundhog day, considering less that 24 hours before we arrived in Auckland airport from Fiji. The hostel that we had booked didn't have any space for us for the first night as we had moved our flight forward, so we checked in to the Venice Beach hotel which, contrary to it's name, it was no where near the beach! The hostel was ok, it was a large house, with a few rooms, it was a bit old! The next day it took us nearly 2 hours to get to our new hostel- we had to get a bus to the airport and a super shuttle to the hostel to qualify for our free transfer. The hostel was in a good location, ... read more
