St Lucia is not soo sunny at the moment, we have just entered into the hurricane season so the the weather is neither here nor there.
We arrived in St Lucia on the 15th June, after a very long night at Miami airport- I felt like I needed a trip to the Chiropractor after sleeping on some very hard chairs that night! When we arrived in St Lucia it was so humid I thought a storm was about to start, as we are staying near Castries and we landed at the other airport at the other end of the island we had to get a taxi up here, it cost 160 EC, about 36 pounds, which was pretty expensive, but as we were soon to learn, everything is expensive for tourists in St Lucia!
We have been out a few times, on Friday night we went to the ‘Jump off’ in Gros Islet, which is s street party, with lots of delicious food and great music til the early hours of the morning. Saturday night we went to Rumours which was also a good night and we have been chilling out since then.
Yesterday we went back down
the Island to Soufrire so visit the Pitons and some of the numerous waterfalls they have. Unfortunately we chose a bad day to do it on, itas raining cats and dogs for the whole day, no actually it only seemed to rain when we got out of a car or a taxi. We were going to do a tour with a company but then when we found out it cost at least 55 USD each, we had a change of heart and decided to do it ourselves! Soo glad we did as we only spent about 100EC yesterday which included our transport down there, entrance to the sulphur springs and the Pitons waterfall and lunch ( bout 20 pounds!), so we had a really bargainous day, although we weren’t able to climb Gros Piton as it was too slippery- maybe next time. We did however spend about 4 hours on the buss getting there and back, a bit of a tight squeeze at some points, but it just added to the allure of St Lucia!
We only have a few more days left before we head east to Barbados, everyone here is a bit biased and they tell us
that we shouldn’t bother with Barbados and should just stay in St Lucia instead!
