It turned out that we came on a good day, which was surprising since it was a Saturday, because we were able to park really easily and we didn't have to wait that long for our tour to start. Our tour guide told us that on other days in the summer it could be a 2 hour wait just to park. We decided to do the full blown Dam Tour. Hi All, Last weekend I visited Pyramid Lake and Black Rock Desert which is in Northern Nevada. It was an amazing place, very cool landscape and I had lots of fun with my 2 friends Emma and Susanna. We saw some lizards but no snakes unfortunately (I really want to see some snakes)! Pyramid Lake is on an Indian reserve in what feels like the middle of nowhere. We left Grand Canyon today and decided to take a detour to visit the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, AZ. It was the furthest south that we will go on our trip. The bridge is the actual London Bridge, and was disassembled and brought here when it was purchased by a man, who probably thought he was getting the Tower Bridge. They created a "Little London" right by the bridge. There is an English Pub, a small theater, and a few eateries, and the buildings have an English look to them. Somehow, four months have flown by, and I find myself in my final week out in Nevada. This stirs up many mixed emotions inside of me, as per usual I suppose. On the one hand, I have had an amazing time out here. I have learned quite a bit, both about research and about myself. I feel that I've learned and experienced about all I can. The pool side makes Vegas what it is; the party capital of the world. Now, I am not talking specifically of the bikini clad chicks that roam these waters (well, the pool side waitresses at least), its more than that; it’s a combination of things including the endless line of cocktails and the sunny blue sky with 30 degree (Celsius) temperature - something my Australian skin has yearning for far too many months. Day 5 - Saturday - 19 SEPT The rest of the team was going in for another run on the salt, but my son was waiting and I had to travel 600 miles to get there. We said goodbyes that morning and took some last minute pictures. The guys headed to the salt before I left. They were gone before 6:30, I waited until sun up to start my journey from Wendover UT to 29 Palms CA. One word.... Chippendales!! Chris' sister, Amanda and I decided to really take in the sights of Las Vegas and see a Chippendale show... Yum is all Im going to see ;) A very enjoyable evening and something I would definately recommend to all the girls out there.. the front row seats definately helped too ;) The next day was extremely long, 17hours to be exact but very worthwhile. Chris and I were up at 5am to take a bus to to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. The bus ride to Hoover Dam took approximately an hour and requires a stop [View Full Entry]
