Le 15 août, Départ le matin de notre camping "fermé", je roule une heure avec la famille qui somnole au lit derrière, ça devient une habitude. Nous roulons toute la journée dans le désert . Alamo, Caliente, Pioche (une ville minière, comme son nom l'indique), Ely. Entre ces quelques villes, rien du tout. Nous faisons le plein de propane pour la première fois, 6 gallons. Sert pour la chaudière à eau chaude et pour le frigidaire quand nous ne roulons pas ni ne sommes raccordés au réseau électrique. le 14 août. Retour des courses. Après un petit plongeon, nous levons le camp à 16h00, c'est notre record. Après avoir fait le point sur les jours qui restent, il s'avère qu'on a pas le temps d'aller plus à l'ouest vers Yosemite et Sequoia Parc et qu'il faut vite prendre la direction de Denver. Nous décidons d'aller à Yosemite Parc depuis San Francisco en prenant un daytrip à un quelconque organisme (greyhound, par exemple). Nous partons donc vers le Nord, direction Salt Lake City. It is so rare in my case to spend a vacation with my family. My brother took me to a Helicopter Tour in Lake Tahoe, it was the second helicopter ride that I had since High School I felt safe that it looked so fine or rather that there’s a minimal chance of getting into a crash. George the helicopter driver said that the our transport is one of the quietest helicopter. It was only about 10 minutes later after the take off when I realized that the helicopter wasn’t noisy. Jeudi 13 aout, le soir . Félix On s'est promenés sur le Las Vegas bld, communément appelé le Strip. Nous avons commencé par visiter le Circus Circus, un casino sur le thème du cirque qui n'était pas extra et un peu vieillot avec des machines à sous et de petits spectacles (magicien, acrobates...). Hallo daheim! Wir sind nun am Schlusspunkt unserer Reise angekommen: am Ort der Superlativen. So was haben wir alle zusammen noch nicht erlebt. Hotels mit Zimmer über 3000 (unser Hotel hat ca 3000 Zimmer), das Mandalay Bay hat über 4500. Die einzigen Sights die man sich hier ansieht sind Hotels. Von denen hat Las Vegas einige Interessante zu bieten. Jedes für sich ist eine eigene Welt. Am Dienstag begleiteten uns zwei Freunde durch das Hotel "The Venetian" - Italien im Kleinen, mit Canale Grande und Gondoliere. Unglaublich. Le 1" août, nous rejoiognons Las Vegas par l'Interstate (autoroute) I15, un petit bout d'Arizona (changement d'heure), puis Nevada. Nous descendons et descendons et la température monte, monte. A l'entrée du Nevada, 97°F dehors et 34°C dans le RV. Et ça montait encore. On a mis la clime en route et elle est encore en route à c't'heure. Le vent est chaud et pique les yeux. On a l'impression d'avancer dans une matière un peu solide. Très impressionnnant. I departed the Grand Tetons on Wed around 8 a.m. Snapped a couple last minute pics of the range before heading west out of the park. It was time to get some serious miles in. I drove about 7 hours until I arrived at Twin Falls, ID and stayed the night. I didn’t really find anything I was looking for in Idaho. They do have world famous potatoes but that’s about it. Tuesday 11th August 2009 Three years ago to the day we met in NZ. It was an adventurous day back then (see) and so we like to celebrate it by doing something similar (as opposed to a fancy meal, etc). So I suggested a sunset hike up Lone Mountain near our house. What a spectacle that was driving into Las Vegas at sunset .... stop thinking about how much energy they use per second to light up the desert and enjoy the ride through crazy town. We checked in at the Circus Circus very good value for the prize (we paid a mere 65 $ per night for a nice room on the 19th floor).
