Hi there! I have not logged in for quite some time, but I bet it isn't a big issue because I bet no one stumbled upon this blog. I know I neglected a few of the things I said I was going to do in my Introductory entry, but I might as well go into some detail. Albuquerque is the only significant place I have gone to between December 20th and now. I did not go during April, because baseball practice was happening over that school vacation. My baseball season proved to be a dud in the middle of May so I quit halfway through the season. Nonetheless, my mom still rescheduled the trip to Albuquerque to begin a few days after I got done with final exams. I spent the 18-24 of June in Albuquerque. ... read more

It's almost half way now and i really can't wait to just start travelling - while i've eventually grown to start liking the camp, I always long for those romantic walks along the wharf and the candle lit dinner beneath the stars and the................... sorry thats another fantasy........i always seem to long for the odd day that we actually get to leave camp and go travelling abit, let my hair down and experience another country and it's culture. The days that we have had out have been great and i always mark for the days when we get to do it again - but i guess for the next month and a half i'll just keep hacking it out! We had parents day just the other day, it's quite easy to tell where some of these ... read more

At 7am the road to Bar Harbour is an easy drive. The morning was beautiful and I arrived on the island where Bar Harbour is located just as the residents were getting going for the day. It was great to see it without the crowds. Even though there were few people about, there was a guy out walking who came over to talk to me. He was a motorcyclist as well, but was traveling by car on this trip. We compared notes for a bit and he helped by taking a picture of me with Bar Harbour in the background. Bar Harbour itself is very nice, but the rest of the island is pretty spectacular as well. Bar Harbour is clearly focussed on tourism. I think their only sustainable business is the mooring and servicing of ... read more

Odometer: 35146km In the morning I had to wait for the rain to stop and the streets to dry a bit before heading off, but I finally got underway by lunch time. I needed a little oil for the bike and ended up getting some help at Farris Power Sports on the outskirts of Augusta. It was one of those places run by seasoned motorcyclists. They were very good to me and hunted up some new oil dregs from several containers and charged me nothing. As I topped up the oil, another motorcyclists came over to talk. I met John, told him my name was also John, and we had a great chat. He was a carpenter, semi-retired, and rode one of the older Honda motorcycles that evolved into the touring Gold Wing of today. He ... read more

I've never met so many japs in my life! however probably not the ones which you are thinking of. So.......all the kids have been here for a little while now and I come to find out that alot of them are really spoilt! Jewish American Princesses is the way they are described!Spoilt beyond belief, it's crazy! For those of you who thought your shoe wardrobe was ridiculous (as in quantity) you'd be choking to when you saw what a young 14yr brought to camp (thats in quantity and quality) i was like "oh my goodness" and they were like "oh my goodness" and we were like "oh my goodness" Well, i'm definately gaining things from my experience here! my knowledge of how others live is growing, my patience towards kids is growing, and my pant size ... read more

We left camp for a few days and actaully went and "camped". It was exactly how all of you picture an american camping in the woods with the usual fireside scary camp stories at night. On the second night, it was a perfectly cloudless night sky, stars were twinkling, infact it was a really good temperature for baking cookies (if you were baking cookies) and everyone was huddled around the camp fire - then Zhang blurted out in a funny chinese/tongan accent "SCARELY STORLY" - i'll translate that for you "scary story". All these scary stories then filled my head - there was the one about the family getting stuck in the middle of the desert and mutants coming and eating them, and there was the one when the backpackers becoming involved with the sick and ... read more

Thats a little exaggerated, It wasn't that bad! infact it was alot of fun aside from the growth that is now cultivating on my right leg. I'm not sure that river is totally safe to wade in. Camp is about to get underway and all the kids are due in a couple of days. The Camp is pretty flash, If you guys just think of all the Movies that have a summer camp in it then your far on your way to knowing what this place is like. Although it says camp, the cabins 5 star bungelos are very impressive and i probably wouldn't call this camping. Before the kids start streaming in the Leaders decided to give us( the councellors) some team bonding exercises. So they sent us out on canoes (i choose this really ... read more

LOCATION: Acadia to Lubec, ME Acadia NP. Again we thought we would do some hiking but it was a downpour all day. So we drove into Bar Harbor and did the tourist thing for a while. We visited the Abbee Museum, a Native American Museum of the area , quite interesting. We continued our drive to the Eastermost town in the US---Lubec, ME. We drove out to view the West Quoddy Lighthouse, the easternmost point of land in the USA. The winds had to be 50 mph plus, and the rain was steady, we tried to get some photos. Then on we forged to a campground for the evening. The wind is incredible as we are perched above the sea, watching a crazy man dig for clams in the wind and rain. Good-night. ... read more

LOCATION: Camden to Acadia Camden Hills SP was a lovely area and we hoped to hike and bike, but the rain got in the way. We walked through Camden in the early morning. Camden is a harbor town built on a river and has a panoramic view of Pennobscot Bay, cute little shops, etc. We drove back to Camden Hill SP and up to Mt. Battie and tried to get some photos, a bit foggy and rainy. Undaunted we continued onto Belfast (guess how it got it’s name) another harbor town with wonderful shops. Off we continued to Acadia NP for the night. The song “A Rainy Night in Georgia” doesn’t quite make it, actually it was pouring all night. It was nice to be warm and dry in our little cocoon, the Bothan. ... read more
