I guess the travelblog website crashed sometime while I was in new york and some of my entries were lost. I managed to get some of them back but I think at least of them is just gone. So I hope you got to read them before they disappeared..... Also, the pictures that are up are in most recent order going back. We flew back into louisville yesterday and I am fairly glad to be here. There are a lot of things that need to be done at the apartment because everyone has to be out by september 1st but I am trying to take it easy for a couple of days. I haven't even started to unpack or anything... I hate unpacking. Let me try to recap new york city as well as I can. ... read more

We leave for new york. There are a few buses leaving at various times but i think we are going to take the one at 6:15. It's a 17 hour ride so we will arrive in new york city on sunday around noon. We are staying with mischa's dad for a few days in the east village and then taking a bus to cooperstown. We are thinking we will do that on wednesday. Soo.... as soon as I find an opportunity to use a computer I will let all know what is going on. Goodbye!... read more

Mischa is now going with me to the farm in new york. The man who owns it wasn't sure how he felt about the both of us coming for a visit but after talking to both of us on the phone he seems to be ok with it. As of now we are aiming to leave by this weekend. I can't even be excited about it because every time we think we have everything done then it turns out we have 5 more things to do or wait on. So that's the plan for now and if it changes again I won't be disappointed as I will again be prepared. I am exhausted.... It has been two weeks to the day since mischa's mom passed away and I can't figure out where the days went. ... read more

So today is the first day this week I have had a chance to relax... being that all week even though I have not had a job I have had tons of errands to run in preparation for my travels. Packing for this trip was much different than any packing I have done before. Usually it takes me approximately 10 minutes to throw everything I need into some sort of bag but as I will be gone for a couple of months for this trip I spent a good two hours or so trying to figure out what I didn't really need to bring with me. My biggest mistake was to try and pack 8 books which I managed to cut down to 4 or 5. But everything is packed and all my errands have been ... read more

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. -Ralph Waldo Emerson Well everybody, I guess that technically today is the big day. Today is the day that I leave the protection/confines of home and head out looking for the danger/adventure of the great Out There. My truck is packed and there's really no reason for me to be awake right now (5 short hours before I'm planning on leaving) except that I'm incredibly excited and ready to go. Tomorrow (technically today) is going to be a tough day driving. I am planning on attempting to go all the way to a National Monument in NE New Mexico from Louisville KY (I forget the name of that monument, but I have it circled on a map. ... read more

Added 414 miles to our trip...we were passing through West Virginia and entered Kentucky to visit our friends who moved away from Carper's Farm two years ago...the Lytle Family now in Louisville, Kentucky. Hogan was glad to get out and stretch his legs in the huge backyard. Emily and Nora were thrilled to have a "sleep over" with their friends Natalie and Isabel. What a nice stop on the way!! Louisville is beautiful...lots of golf courses!... read more

So I'm getting so excited about this entire experience. I'm 33 days and counting until I travel to Edinburgh, United Kingdom for my study abroad experience!!! I'll be attending Napier University, where I will be hopefully studying Animal Behavior, Whale and Dolphin Biology, Scottish Culture and Society, and Hillwalking. It’s going to be a major adjustment, emotionally and physically. I’m really going to be on my own for once. Hopefully I will also find a veterinarian to work for, or at least to shadow. Look out for pictures of sheep!!! If you want to email me (which I will really really want once I'm there), I'll continue having my bellarmine email: bmurphy01@bellarmine.edu. Well have a Merry Christmas everyone!!! ~Brian ... read more

11/18/2006 8:58 AM I-65 north of Louisville. When we pulled in to the club last night we noticed the night was billed as a “Metal” night which neither of these bands are. Although, people that listen to metal seem to like us despite our lack of heavy guitar chugging and cookie monster sounding vocals. Apparently the promoter originally had a different venue that had been used by the local goth/industrial scene for quite some time but they lost their space. The show was moved to a different venue. We kept hearing from the locals that they had never actually been in this place and dressed down a bit so as not to have problems with the bars regulars. We met the opening band, set up our gear, and stood around for about 20 minutes waiting for ... read more
