I'm the drummer for 2 bands, "High Blue Star" and "Autumn. I love touring and traveling. There are so many cool and weird people, places, and things to see out there and not nearly enough time to do/see them all. My band travels in a bus called the Nebuchadnezzar that runs on used vegetable oil. Much more cost effective and environmentally friendly too.

I like to keep "top 5" lists of various things, one of these lists is favorite US cities. 1- Minneapolis; 2- Pittsburgh; 3- Seattle; 4- Portland; 5- Eureka Springs, AR
It would appear that we hit Florida in time for monsoon season. All the way to Miami we ran into heavy downpours off and on. It would rain for 20 minutes and we'd have to slow down to around 30 mph, then it would stop and everyone would speed up again. The temperature inside the bus when we closed the widows for the rain stiffling and the constant;open the windows, close the windows, was getting on everyones nerves. the bus was leaking from everywhere from the heavy rain and was getting everything inside wet as well. The humidity and heat inside the bus resembles that of a jungle and the smell is starting to resemble that of a locker room less the soap and shampoo. In Miami we played at an English style club in Little

We found a privately owned coffee shop and hit the internet for a bit before starting to the club. This was on of the shows that we were concerned about but it turned out alright. The crowd was small but both bands sold a decent amount of CDs and shirts. In the morning we had to make another stop at Guitar Center to replace broken equipment. I feel like im spending more on repairs than I am making right now.

Shortly after beginning our set up someone gave me my package from Jennifer. It was a card, some clean shirts and snacky things for the road. It was really nice getting something from home. The time away from her is starting to wear on me. I read through the card and looked up and saw Jake, Turtle, and Cindy. I hadn't had time to contact them before arriving at the club to give them specifics on the show. We played a little catch up until sound check. By door time Jake, Turtle, Cindy, Brandon, and Rhiannon and a couple of their friends were waiting to go

Ada, whom we stayed with, is the sister of V from Apocalypse Theater, a band that Brian plays with on occasion. We were told that a package had been delivered to the club for High Blue Star and that when they made a first delivery attempt there was no one around to accept it so it would be delivered in the morning. we all kind of looked at each other trying to figure out what it was and who sent it. No one seemed to know who it might be. Ada lives a block away from the club (The Depot) and is soon opening a shop above the club. Parking in the area was a little difficult because the city was
... read more We have had good luck in the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) in the past but this time was different. We had a pretty small turn out, hopefully due to the fact that it was 97 degrees and school was out for summer. It was an early arrival as usual so we found ourselves at a local coffee shop. It was a nice place that brewed your coffee to order using French presses. Brian, like all of us, is used to just ordering coffee by "lightroast" or "darkroast" but here there were tons of specialty coffees. When the barista posed the question 'what can I get you?' the choices were just too many. Brian just asked for the special that was advertised on the sign in the front but was luckily informed that it was

We needed internet so Brandon drove us to Panera bread for coffee and interweb. Brian needed to see if he could find parts to fix the AC but found that it would be just too much work to be doing on the road. Aside from that he would need to take it to a shop to remove the freon so it could be worked on and if he couldn't get it all fixed at this stop we wouldn't be able to get our freon back. The AC holds 7 pounds of freon coming in at around $300. Brian and I stayed at the house while the rest of the group went with Brandon

I usually write them in Notepad and then cut and paste them when I can get internet. Even then it can be difficult as everyone needs to check their e-mail etc.. Driving to Providence from NYC was pretty painless and were still driving on the vegoil that we picked up in that small town on the New York/Pennsylvania border. The bumpy NYC roads cracked the front windshield a little more and the already sketchy passenger side mirror had become an obstacle for NYC bicyclists that couldn't avoid it. I seemed about every 20 minutes or so a guy on a bike would ram his shoulder into the mirror while we were parked.

Remarkably the drive in wasn't that bad and we were fortunate to find parking right in front of the doors without driving around forever. After parking we found out that they had moved load-in back to 6pm so we kept feeding the meter until 10pm. The meter time and the real time didn't sync. For 1 hours worth of coins we got about 50 minutes. All in all it only cost about $16 for our excellent parking spot. Everyone killed the time by going into shops and getting things to eat and drink. The stage crew showed up at around three and so we loaded in with them. It took a couple of hours to build the stage

We drove under clear skies as the storm slipped off to the north. I've seen a good portion of Pennsylvania and really enjoy it. After the wallet incident last night everyone could breath easy. I stayed outside late last night and took video of the lightning in the clouds before sleeping in the bus. The intention was to watch the Michael Moore movie but everyone was too tired We woke and decided to ask a Chinese restaurant if we could take some of their grease. Laurie spoke with them but they spoke little English and said to come back later when the daughter was

The Rex theatre on the Southside is a really nice place. We sold a decent amount of merch. and bet a lot of cool people involved with Mordant Productions. I know I'm not going to remember everyones name so forgive me if I miss someone. The show was full of bands and acts, a corset contest, and lots of give aways from local vendors. After the show we went to our new friend, Megan's house and drank beer on her front porch until 4 or 5am. She has a three level house in Forest Hills just outside of Pittsburgh the top
